High alert in Israel's south; IDF and Egypt deploy reinforcements

Prophecy Sign:  The coming Psalm 83 war, (also alluded to in the books of Jeremiah, Isaiah, Obadiah)

Ever heard of Alex Jones?  An interesting chap with perhaps way too much time on his hands, (thinks everything must be a conspiracy).  He has several web-sites, a daily radio program and has made several videos, (“The Obama Deception” perhaps being the most well known).

While we don't agree with Mr. Jones on many of his conspiratorial beliefs, nor do we agree with his eschatological outlook, (he vehemently disagrees with the doctrine of the Rapture), we certainly agree with his assessment that the world is heading for war in the middle-east.  He tends to see Elites and Globalists pushing the world towards these wars, (which may be entirely true).  We are told that dark forces are at work in this world even now marching the world towards a paradigm shift from independent sovereign nations to global governance.

Whomever, or whatever, is behind the scenes pulling the strings, all we know is that bible prophecy will be fulfilled.  And that includes the much prophesied battles that will occur during the last days in and around the Holy Land.  The first of those battles we believe to be the Psalm 83 war.  (Just reading the headlines to the articles below, we can see that this war approaches swiftly).

While prophecy will eventually be fulfilled, we are not here cheering on from the sidelines for the start of any wars anywhere in the world.  We are instead praying that peace will reign supreme, and wars will be pushed off for a time.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12 NIV

Evil men and impostors will go from bad to worse, deceiving and being deceived. 2 Timothy 3:13 NIV

From the articles:

IDF chief Benny Gantz ordered the deployment of reinforcements around both the southern Gaza Strip and the Egyptian border on Sunday night, due to intelligence reports suggesting an imminent attack by the Islamic Jihad. The reinforcements were coordinated with the Egyptian army. Although security sources estimate that the Islamic Jihad is planning the possible attack, a security official made clear that the IDF will hold Hamas responsible for any terrorist attack originating from the Gaza Strip.

Israel and the United States are closely monitoring Syria's suspected weapons of mass destruction due to concerns that terror groups could take advantage of the unrest in the country to seize chemical arms and long-range missiles, the Wall Street Journal reported Friday.  According to the report, US intelligence services estimate that Syria's nonconventional weapons arsenal includes stockpiles of mustard gas, VX and Sarin gas, as well as the missile and artillery systems to deliver them.

In the wake of recent reports of a joint Israeli-Jordanian plan to link the Red Sea on the Israeli side and the Dead Sea on the Jordanian Side, parliamentarians in Egypt are agitating for the nation's caretaker junta to demand Israel surrender the port-city of Eilat.  Egypt has insisted it has a claim to the city of Eilat since it lost the city to the nascent state of Israel in the wake of the Egyptian army's defeat in Israel's 1948 War of Independence, but after the 1979 Camp David Accords the claim was officially dropped. Or so it seemed.

The Israeli Navy (INF) has decided to boost its presence and patrols near Israel's maritime border with Egypt due to a viable terror threat in the area. Israeli security sources told the Associated Press on Monday that two additional warships have been dispatched to Israel's Red Sea border with Egypt. Another source stressed that the operation was routine, telling Reuters that "two naval craft have been sent to the Red Sea. This is not unusual."
