State Department, UN Silent on Latest Anti-Christian Violence in Ethiopia

The world worried about potential civilian casualties in Muslim Libya, and used that as one of the excuses to initiate a no fly zone.  At the same time, Muslim radicals in Ethiopia have since the month of March, murdered two Christians, burned 69 churches and displaced 3,000 other Christians in an outbreak of violence.  No condemnation or talk of military intervention from anyone in the Western World.

At the same time, 5 Christians are imprisoned in Iran for crimes against Islam and will be executed if found guilty of the charges.  Again, silence from the West.

Christian persecution is on the rise, and especially so in the middle-east where radical Islam is on the loose.  Pray for our Christian brothers and Sisters around the world who are under threat of persecution.

From the news articles:
While the Obama administration cited human rights atrocities in Libya as part of the reason for U.S. and U.N. military intervention there, neither the State Department nor the United Nations have apparently condemned an outbreak of violence in western Ethiopia, led by Muslim radicals. Since early March two Christians have reportedly been killed, more than 3,000 displaced and at least 69 churches destroyed. Also, leading human rights organizations including Amnesty International, Human Rights Watch and Human Rights First appear not to have publicly condemned the attacks.

Five Christians imprisoned in the Iranian city of Shiraz are scheduled to be tried for blasphemy on Monday, according to Christian Solidarity Worldwide. Pastor Behrouz Sadegh-Khandjani, Mehdi Furutan, Parviz Khalaj, Mohammed Beliad and his wife Nazly Makarian Beliad have already served one year in prison for "crimes against the Islamic Order." The five believers, who are members of Church of Iran - the Islamic republic's largest house church movement-- would be sentenced to death if convicted.
