ElBaradei: We'll fight back if Israel attacks Gaza

Egypt, as we noted in another of today’s blog entries, is moving towards becoming an Islamic state, and no friend of Israel.  The fact that a potential Egyptian President has come out and said he would declare war on Israel if Israel attacked Gaza, is a major piece of news from a prophetic standpoint.

There are several prophecies concerning Egypt and the last days.  Isaiah 19 tells us that a time would come when Egyptians would fight Egyptians, (a revolution perhaps?), which would lead to a fierce King taking control of the country.  Psalm 83, tells us that a group know as the Hagrites would take part in a war against Israel.  The Hagrites are an ancient peoples group that are associated with present day Egypt.  Finally Ezekiel 29 tells us that Egypt will become a desolate land for a period of 40 years.  There are some prophecy experts, (after having studied Ezekiel 29), who have come to the conclusion that an event of war such a nuclear blast over the Aswan High Dam would spread radiated water throughout Egypt, rendering it desolate.

Are we fast approaching to the fulfillment of these Old Testament prophecies?  Time will tell.

From the news articles:
Former International Atomic Energy Agency chief Mohamed El Baradei, who had previously announced his intentions to run for the presidency of Egypt, said Monday that “if Israel attacked Gaza we would declare war against the Zionist regime." In an interview with the Al-Watan newspaper he said: "In case of any future Israeli attack on Gaza - as the next president of Egypt – I will open the Rafah border crossing and will consider different ways to implement the joint Arab defence agreement."

An additional battery of the Iron Dome anti-rocket system will be deployed on Monday (Apr. 4) in southern Israel, according to Galatz (Army Radio). The battery, operated by commanders and soldiers of the IAF's aerial defense network, will be deployed in as part of efforts to protect residents of the Israeli cities of Ashkelon and Ashdod against rocket fire from the Gaza Strip. This is the second Iron Dome battery deployed in southern Israel over the past few weeks. The first battery was deployed in the Be'er Sheba region the week of March 27th.
