Mexico's drug war leaves ghost towns in its wake

The current drug war going on in Mexico is perhaps an example of the fulfillment of two prophecies from the bible:  Violence filling the earth and an unrepentant drug crazed society.

Jesus told his disciples that just prior to his return, the earth would be much like it was during the days of Noah prior to the great flood, (Matthew 24:37).  Just how bad was it?  So bad that is grieved God's heart that he had created mankind:

Now the earth was corrupt in God’s sight and was full of violence. God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. Genesis 6:11-13 NIV

We are also told in the book of Revelation that some people, (even after suffering greatly during the Tribulation), will simply not repent of their "magical acts".  The original word here is the Greek word from which we derive our English word, pharmaceutical, or drugs.

The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts. Revelation 9:20-21 NIV

Please pray for the nation of Mexico, especially the innocent that simply can not escape the evils that are within their midst’s on a daily basis. And pray that God will deal with the purveyors of this evil justly and swiftly.

From the articles:
The attack on Tierras Coloradas is one of the most dramatic examples yet of a still largely hidden phenomenon of Mexico’s drugs war: people forced from their homes by the violence. “The situation is out of control,” Durango state prosecutor Ramiro Ortiz said in an interview at his office last week. “Organized crime has no limits any more. They don’t respect women or children. It’s a situation of total brutality.”

Thirteen taxi drivers were shot dead as Mexico's deadly drug wars hit Acapulco with a vengeance. Corpses were strewn across the city over the weekend, inside cabs and in the street, where trails of blood flowed into the gutters. Turf battles rarely reach the tourist hub - and the timing of the killings was significant with a major international tennis tournament starting there today.

At least 40 people have been killed in Ciudad Juarez since Friday, making it one of the most violent weekends in the city in years, Mexican officials say. The killings were all apparently related to the drug-trafficking gangs.  Juarez, on border with the US, saw more than 3,000 murders in 2010, making it by far Mexico's deadliest city.
