Wars, violence and terrorism will all likely be the impetus that will lead the world into the global religious system that will exist at the time of the Antichrist. Some prophecy experts are coming to the conclusion that Islam will be this new global system, as Christians will have been taken off the earth at the Rapture of the Church. Islam might very well be; we have no real argument with that perspective. However, it must be said that of the 2 bill ion Christians currently in the world, most are nominal Christians at best or Christians in name only. Most will not be part of the rapture of the church, and will be left behind with the other religions of the world to form what the bible refers to as Mystery Babylon, the global religious system, (Revelation 17:3-5).
This system will likely be consolidation of the major religions of the world into some sort of ecumenical super-faith. That process has been going on for years, as this article attests to. We believe the events of the rapture and the ensuing global problems thereafter, will drive the religions of the world together in an attempt to solve global issues.

Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Matthew NIV
From the article:
Pope Benedict, worried over increasing inter-religious violence, will host a summit of world religious leaders in Assisi in October to discuss how they can better promote peace, he announced on Saturday. Benedict told pilgrims and tourists in St Peter's Square the aim of the meeting would be to "solemnly renew the commitment of believers of every religion to live their own religious faith in the service of the cause for peace." The Assisi meeting will take place on the 25th anniversary of a similar encounter hosted by the late Pope John Paul in 1986 in the birthplace of St Francis. That meeting was attended by Muslim and Jewish leaders and heads of many other religions, including the Dalai Lama, the spiritual leader of Tibetan Buddhists, and the Archbishop of Canterbury.
