Citizen militia have been around for a long time, ever since the American Indians lived on the US continent. American Indian village were effectively filled with citizen militia 'warriors'. Indian community citizens were armed and protected themselves and their neighbors. This part is not hard to understand. In Switzerland, every male over the age of 18 is required to keep a gun and ammo at home, plus they go in for regular refresher training, in case of need. Militias are not bad, in and of themselves, as long as all that they do is defend the village, community or nation. The problems all start when the militia goes and attacks another village, nation or goes international and invades another country in a hostile manner.
There is an important distinction that needs to be made after watching the above video about militias in the US. The gentlemen above NEVER mention the influence of money and corporations inside of any government. Why not?
These militia groups seem to exclusively blame the 'government'. Their desire to is squash government. The problem with this theory is that this belief system ties in exactly with what huge corporations want as well. The big huge corporations want less or no government, because then no one can tell them what they can and cannot do.

The thing to understand is that the government is us. There is no evil 'them' in government, except for the corrupting influence of corporations and money on those government servants that get elected with corporate money pushing them into the office that they sit in. If everyone voted only for candidates who took no corporate money, there would be no need for a revolution. Corporate money is what corrupts democracy to the point where corporations 'own' politicians, who then do their corporate bidding, instead of the people. The fix is simple, obvious, and clear. But most people vote out fear, rather than informed conscience.

Of course, the Occupy movement was also ignored and demonized, just as the militia movement is. The core agreement that is shared by the Tea Party, militias, Occupy and climate change protest is that they are fundamentally FOR the people and the commons. In October of 2010, a large crowd of people were protesting outside Icelandic parliament. Members of parliament eventually left the building, without talking with an angry crowd who were throwing eggs and trash at them. It ended up with some broken windows and people struggling with the police.
Police were armed with clubs and pepperspray ready to use, and it came very close to fighting and rioting. A few days later, around 15,000 - 20,000 came again to protest.

There are only 350,000 people total in Iceland, so this is a large percentage of the adults able to move around showing up at the central government headquarters. With 17% of the people showing up, calling for huge changes, and then being ignored, that calls for drastic action.
The equivalent number of people showing up in front of the White House would require close to 6 million people protesting. Ignore huge protests and gatherings at your peril is the message and lesson for politicians.

It is also interesting to see how the police are looking pretty casual in the protest above, and the few ropes that were set up to keep protestors away where taken down fairly quickly. Compare this scene to the military style police and very heavy iron barricades plus fences in the US, to keep all protestors away from their elected representatives in the USA. The last protest covered by AGRP kept the protestors at least one mile away from a visiting US President. Is this how democracy looks like now in the United States? Why is there such a need to keep people away from their representatives, especially around protests?
The fear level inside the political and corporate halls of power is growing, so they must arm the police with military hardware and train them to suppress the people, or the people will come in and clean house.
All 'bad' corporate news must be wiped off the news and protests must be ignored. Best case, anti corporate takeover protests will not be covered at all, for fear that people may wake up and take back their power, as the people did in Iceland only recently.

Don't allow any money or gifts into the political system, and do not allow any corporate lobbyists to influence legislators.
