This professor, who teaches and works at Oxford University and has published a book, claims that 100 m/Sv per year man made radiation from a nuclear accident such as Fukushima is healthy and good for you. Adding up a lifetime of this radiation dose exposure creates the equivalent of a 5 SIEVERT dose, which is lethal.

Jebus December 4, 2014 He has proposed new limits as high as 100mSv for a single dose or as a monthly maximum, and 5,000 mSv as a lifetime exposure. Professor Allison said he supported nuclear energy as part of the solution to climate change but was not part of the industry and had never accepted work or money from it.

It is strange that he claims to not be part of the nuclear industry, when his wiki entry is full of his nuclear industry experience. The nuclear industry funds the Oxford nuclear education program and sponsors pro nuclear industry conferences there.

Not only that, but just about any video on Youtube that features this professor is done at a function that is supported or paid for by the nuclear industry. Is he speaking in these interviews for free? Is the professor being 'reimbursed' for transportation and speaker fees? Who is paying him? He also belongs to and promotes for profit organizations that are pro nuclear. Bottom line, he supports the nuclear industry and wants to see 2,000 nuclear plants built globally.

ALLISON PROMOTES THEORY THAT LETHAL DOSE OF RADIATION IS 'SAFE' AND WILL NOT CAUSE HARM


Allison at the Institute of Physics: New safety levels for human radiation exposure are suggested… 100 mSv in total in any month; 5,000 mSv as a total of whole-of-life exposure.

Some people don't know what the above figures mean. 5,000 mSv translates into 5 SIEVERTS, which is a lethal dose of radiation. It does not matter if you spread it out over a lifetime or a single huge dose in a few minutes. The end result is the same. Radiation doses are CUMULATIVE. In other words, every dose adds up and does not dissipate or magically disappear in terms of risk. Want proof that this dose is lethal? First convert mSv to Sieverts here.....

The professor claims that there is no risk to living an area where the accumulated radiation dose will be 5 Sieverts, compared to a small fraction of that for the average person. Studies done outside the nuclear industry prove that radiation exposure is cumulative, and the risk adds up over time, so 5 Sieverts over 20 years amounts to almost exactly the same thing as 5 Sieverts received all at once. A longer video about radon, radioactivity and the history of the nuclear industry is provided below, but the same conclusion is reached; that even back in the 1500's, it was known and understood that people who worked in uranium mines died much more often of lung cancer than those who had no such exposure over time. 

If professor Allison were correct in his hormesis theory, anyone working in uranium mines, nuclear power plants or living in high radon gas level homes should be healthier and live longer than those who don't. But as it turns out, the studies prove that the more radiation one is exposed to from any source, the risk and consequences go up.

In this video, he claims that radiation is good for you, so he wrote a book about it and talked to the public about it. The professor claimed no one needed to be evacuated after the 3 meltdowns and everyone should keep eating local food and drinks, with no restrictions, and that no decontamination is needed, since all radiation is healthy and good for you. The only thing to fear is the fear of radiation. In other words, the professor is promoting the theory of radiophobia, which is part of the hormesis theory, that all man made radiation is safe and good for everyone, in doses up to 5 Sieverts.

SUMMARY

There are two very dangerous and bogus theories being promoted by the pro nuclear industry; hormesis and the radiophobia. Both are quack theories that can easily be disproven and debunked. But the mass media is owned by huge corporations who don't want to expose these quack theories because they are captured by the nuclear industry.

As the mass media gives air time to these quacks, the public believes them, and politicians are then told to sign laws created by organizations such as ALEC, which prints up hundreds of bills that are then sent to politicians all over the country to sign. Many of them sign these industry friendly laws without even reading them.

Through a variety of methods and influences or ownership, the bad news about nuclear radiation never makes into the main stream news, movies or TV shows. The only thing that ends up making into the news media is the PR type of coverage, such as the garden of eden movie around Chernobyl movie, as one example, or Pandora's Box. Both of these are biased PR types of propaganda that are pro nuclear in focus. Unless someone sees this kind of article, the public gets only positive news about the nuclear industry.
