VOTER PURGES ARE NOT ALLOWED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF AN ELECTION
2014 - Election officials in 27 states, most of them Republicans, have launched a program that threatens a massive purge of voter rolls, especially targeting minority voters.
Al Jazeera America has obtained 2.1 million names from the target lists, kept confidential until now. Experts reviewing the lists conclude it is suspiciously over-weighted with Black, Hispanic and Asian-American voters.
The targeted voters have been tagged as "potential duplicate voters," suspected of voting twice in the same election, in two different states, a felony crime punishable by 2-10 years in prison.
Until now, state officials conducting the purge have refused to turn over their lists on grounds that these voters are all subjects of a criminal investigation.

Have Republicans tried this 'purging' technique before? The answer is yes.. over and over again, before every election, all across the US.. Local elections officials can remove people from the voter rolls, but they are supposed to be provided with DOCUMENTATION that PROVES voters are committing fraud or no longer exist, and then only if it is more than 90 days away from an election and proof is provided of fraud or ineligibility to vote.
What does the Republican state party provide as proof? Nothing more than Excel spreadsheet with hundreds of thousands of names on it, along with a demand to remove those people and prevent them from voting in each state. Of course, if the local elections officials are also friendly Republicans who are going along with the program to 'purge' without really checking into things, guess what happens?

STAND YOUR GROUND PROTEST, VOTER ROLE PURGE IN FLORIDA
In 2012, at 3:30 in, Rachel discloses what happens when the Republicans went on a witch hunt for non citizen voters on the voter rolls. The Republicans wanted to kick 180,000 people off the voter rolls in Florida, but when the list was looked at by someone other than Republicans, it was quickly whittled down to 2,000 or so. Then that list was gone through a little better, and the list went down to 198 people. At that point, The Elections Committee told the Republicans to give up their witch hunt, and quit the attacks on registered voters (almost all were black and poor voters).
As of 2013, the Republicans went at it again. Purging seems to be a favorite occupation and hobby of Republicans.
This is a good way to anger minority voters, because very few or none of the people that they want deleted are white, middle class or rich voters. It seems that somehow, the only people on these huge lists are poor minority voters. Now that would not have some racist xenophobic motives behind it, would it? Hmmmmm...
But what is happening behind the curtain? Corporations are pulling these strings and benefit from whatever happens. If the voters are purged, they win. If the Democrats fight back, they win also, because then the Republican voters will be 'threatened' and more of them will come out to vote in order to 'defend' the party.
But because the corporations control both sides of this 'fight', it really doesn't matter who wins or loses, because the point of this 'fight' is to keep people from focusing on the real problem, which is the corporations taking over control of Congress, Senate and the White House, as well as the judges, which are appointed by their political puppets. Who controls the politicians and what they do behind the scenes?

Bottom line, voting is a responsibility, and there are good, non corporate money backed candidates on the ballot that deserve your vote. SUMMARY
The pundits are wringing their hands about how extreme things are getting in politics, but they never discuss the true root causes, because they are not allowed to discuss anything like this, by their corporate handlers. They may admit that politicians are becoming more extreme and unwilling to reach any agreement somewhere in the middle, but they don't talk about how corporate money behind the scenes is actually dividing and conquering the whole system, turning the whole political system into something that only works for them, but not for ordinary citizens.
If gerrymangering, money and organizations such as ALEC were taken out of politics and the media provided free coverage for all candidates (including third party candidates), while banning paid coverage, extreme fringe political candidates would immediately disappear from just about all political offices. Extreme fringe candidates do not make up a majority in any but just a few states across the US.
The fake appearance of democracy and voting rights in the US is masked by the absolute corrupting influence of money in all possible ways, from top to bottom. The result is a dictatorship of corporations, allied with extreme fringe true believers and their corporate mouthpiece media outlets, such as Fox News.

The evidence is in our political system, which is getting more and more extreme on both sides of the Dualopoly, as more and more corrupting money is thrown at it, which does nothing but further polarize and divide politicians, while allowing corporations to dominate everything in the middle.
