The answer is to prepare for any huge global calamity like this, because these huge natural disasters happen about every 200 to 3,000 years. Civilizations do fall in conjunction with these natural disasters. There is no need to destroy all life on Earth, via nuclear radioactive elements released from 400 destroyed nuclear power plants and 400 or more spent fuel pools. It is time to shut all nuclear plants down, and put all of the nuclear waste into dry casks or underground storage.

Across vertebrates, 16 to 33 percent of all species are estimated to be globally threatened or endangered. Large animals – described as megafauna and including elephants, rhinoceroses, polar bears and countless other species worldwide – face the highest rate of decline, a trend that matches previous extinction events."

'Who would have thought that just defaunation would have all these dramatic consequences? But it can be a vicious circle.' The scientists also detailed a troubling trend in invertebrate defaunation. Human population has doubled in the past 35 years; in the same period, the number of invertebrate animals – such as beetles, butterflies, spiders and worms – has decreased by 45 percent. "

SUMMARY
There is nothing humans can do at this stage to prevent 'natural' huge extinction level events, other than building shelters for large numbers of people and have supplies that may be required for extended stays. Strangely though, in the US, all emergency nuclear bomb shelters that could be used for something like the above, have been dismantled and gotten rid of. In China, by contrast, there are enough emergency underground shelters for everyone in the cities. The only people who know that shelters are available to them in the US are top military leaders, top political leaders and the top richest of the rich, plus their families of course.
