How To Clean Rivers Of Floating Garbage And Keep The Oceans Clear Of Plastic

Until humans learn to use something biodegradable and not harmful to the environment, this simple low tech invention keeps a river cleared of plastic floating debris that poisons the world's oceans. This kind of device could work for any river, scaled up or down to fit whatever size is needed.

The oceans are not a garbage dump that can digest and process plastic, so this device or an equivalent should be required all up and down each river all around the world, especially if humans keep using plastic that NEVER disappears or degrades, because for all practical intents and purposes, plastic does not disappear, ever. Plastic may degrade and decompose into chemicals, but those chemicals are toxic and get concentrated back up food chain.

Another strategy to reduce plastic bottles going into the oceans that is simple and effective, is to put in drinking fountains where plastic bottles can be refilled on the beaches where large numbers of people congregate. In areas where this has been done, the amount of plastic bottle waste going into the oceans has been reduced by a large percentage.
