40 - 60 MILLION Deaths Due To Global Open Air Nuclear Weapons Testing 1945 to 2003

In the video above, Dr. Chris Busby reports that the number of radiation victims from open air atomic bomb testing totals more than 60 million people globally, from the start of the atomic bomb testing until today. 

What caused the increase in cancer rates and deaths, starting from 1945 to 2014? Few people realize that the world has already experienced a global nuclear war, with over 2,400 nuclear bombs set off since 1945. BACKGROUND RADIATION INCREASED 600% FROM 1940'S TO 2014


All of this radiation released over all of these years resulted in the overall global background radiation level rising from 1 m/Sv to 6 m/Sv annually today. The higher the background radiation, the more deaths will result, in more ways. Part of the number of deaths caused by open air nuclear bomb testing comes from background radiation.  The next question is, how does not calculate the amount of cancer caused by the nuclear industry RAISING the 'natural' background radiation by 600 percent from 1950 to 2014? Of course, the nuclear industry and their apologists will make the rather bold claim that all background radiation is 'natural' and that none of the deaths that it causes can be laid at the feet of the nuclear industry. Some will even go so far as to say this background radiation does no harm and causes no deaths at all, because low dose radiation is good for you, just like bananas.

BLUE RIBBON EUROPEAN PANEL ESTIMATES 61 MILLION DEATHS GLOBALLY FROM ATOMIC BOMB TESTING


Huffington Post reports; "Testing had ended, but the thorny question of health hazards to Americans — especially children — remained. U.S. childhood cancer rates had climbed in the 1950s and early 1960s, but scientists were stumped as to why. Studies of the fallout-cancer link were only conducted after the Cold War had ended. A 2002 U.S. Centers for Disease Control report calculated that fallout caused 15,000 U.S. cancer deaths, a figure some believed was a gross underestimate. The following year, a blue ribbon European panel reported 61,600,000 cancer deaths worldwide from fallout."

US GOVERNMENT DATA ESTIMATES 40 MILLION CANCERS FROM ATOMIC BOMB TESTING


US government data shows a slightly lower number of cancers – about 40 million cancers – due to background radiation (mainly bomb testing) in the United States. At the same time that same government data shows 132.76 million will get cancer in the United States and nearly 70 million of those people will die.

According to the LLRC; "...The main injection from the testing was in the period 1959-1963. This was globally dispersed by the force of the megaton tests which injected the fallout into the stratosphere where it fell later in rain; it can still be measured in rain. These exposures were the cause of the global cancer epidemic which began in 1980 and determined differential cancer rates according to rainfall (Busby 1995, 2007, ECRR 2010). At the time they caused increases in infant mortality. The global cancer mortality yield of these exposures was calculated by the European Committee on Radiation Risk in 2003 at approximately 52 million (ECRR 2003)."

Historically, the government's and nuclear industry numbers have been slanted downwards systematically by the nuclear industry and associated interests, often by many orders of magnitude, as the example above shows. But is Dr. Chris Busby and this study credible?

The next question to ask is how big a percentage of cancer and other deaths are 'natural' beyond the background radiation source?  For example, how many deaths are due to man made radiation sources such as from hot particles coming from depleted uranium weapons (DU), legal emissions from nuclear plants, nuclear accidents, military accidents, plutonium releases from processing plants, plutonium powered satellite crashes, etc?

NEW STUDY USES SAMPLE OF 85,000 BABY TEETH COLLECTED IN THE 1960s

“Washington DC (Oct 20, 2009) – Many thousands of Americans have died or will die of cancer due to exposure to atomic bomb test fallout, far more than the U.S. government estimate of 15,000. The new estimate is based on radiation measured in baby teeth in a landmark study released today.

“Christie Brinkley would go anywhere to help spread the important word about the Tooth Fairy Project. All parents need to be aware!The study found that the level of radioactive Strontium-90 (Sr-90) from bomb fallout in baby teeth of persons who died of cancer is more than double the level in healthy persons. The analysis is the first to address cancer risk from bomb fallout by examining radiation levels in human bodies. It is being conducted by the Radiation and Public Health Project (RPHP), a New York-based research group, which has measured a sample of 85,000 baby teeth from persons born in the 1950s and 1960s in the St. Louis area.

“’The toll from bomb fallout is probably far greater than prior estimates,” says Joseph Mangano MPH MBA, Executive Director of RPHP and principal study author. “Because 40% of Americans will be diagnosed with cancer in their lifetime, it is crucial to understand causes such as bomb fallout, so actions to prevent the disease can be taken.

“’This study is very compelling because it measures Strontium-90 in baby teeth, a man made chemical not found in nature, which is delivered to children’s teeth and bones only from exposure to nuclear fission from atomic bombs and nuclear plants,’ says Christie Brinkley, model and environmental activist. ‘We must not allow continued harm to our children’s health and well being,’ she adds….”

“…Nuclear tests have been carried out at more than 60 locations around the globe, often on the lands of indigenous and minority peoples, far away from those who made the decisions to conduct them. While some test sites have been virtually uninhabited, others have been densely populated. The tests have irradiated people working on the programmes, the downwind and downstream communities, and the whole global population. The International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War has estimated that roughly 2.4 million people will eventually die as a result of the atmospheric nuclear tests conducted between 1945 and 1980, which were equal in force to 29,000 Hiroshima bombs….”

INDIA STUDY ESTIMATES 22 MILLION INFANT DEATHS FROM ATOMIC BOMB TESTS


Via VanneV October 27, 2014 India Infant Mortality and Nuclear Tests "Abstract "1. Infant Mortality Rate and Under 5 Mortality Rate - The paper shows that the Indian infant mortality rate in the nuclear age (1945 onwards) has more than doubled compared to the pre-nuclear age and is statistically significant (95% confidence limits for a mean Relative Risk of 2.34 being 1.33 to 4.67 : Table 1). Nuclear activity worldwide during 1945 to 1999 has probably mainly contributed to an excess infant mortality in India of 22,676,600(about 23 million infant deaths in the age group 0-1) compared to the period 1911-1945. See Figure 1. Further a study of the under 5 mortality rate shows that there is a similar doubling of the risk of under 5 mortality and with a similar holocaust(Table U5MRPRENN). The recommendations of the European Committee on Radiation Risk (ECRR 2003) appear to support this assertion. The nuclear activities till 1993 have resulted in a total collective ionizing radiation dose commitment of 123 mSv per person based on World population of 5 billion assumed by UNSCEAR ( page 133, ECRR 2003)…."

The deaths from nuclear accidents can only be accurately counted many years after the accidents happen, by measuring the increase in various diseases and cancers, starting from the date of the accident. It took many years to estimate that the death toll from Chernobyl alone was 1 million people, JUST IN RUSSIA. Each additional nuclear accident just keeps adding on to the existing death toll. This is the REAL reason for the cancer rate going from one in a million to one in two people or worse now, in a lifetime.

Depleted uranium weapons (DU) have been used all over the EU, the US, the Middle East and many other nations around the world. The US is the biggest exporter of DU munitions in the world. Many countries (including the US) use DU munitions just like 'normal' ammunition when testing or engaging terrorists, fighting skirmishes or when waging all out war.

The problem is that at least one type of radioactive and toxic heavy metal depleted uranium dust lasts for a Billion years. DU blows all around the world in the form of ceramic nano dust where it is inhaled and ingested. That DU dust is now traveling up the food chain because plants and animals absorb it too, so it is being absorbed by babies, children and adults all around the world. The thing that makes all of this worse, is that plutonium is now being used as fuel in the 'next generation' nuclear reactors. Plutonium so deadly, a nano dust 'hot' particle of it can kill you via lung cancer if inhaled, as evidenced by dog plutonium dust inhalation studies.

Plutonium is so much more dangerous and deadly that uranium, and it's use has only recently been expanded exponentially, that AGRP predicts all of the above death tolls will rapidly increase. Plutonium is now being used in all new nuclear reactors, despite being much more volatile and hazardous.
