Nuclear Explosion Induced Lightning, Captured By High Speed Cameras

 This video is focused on the lightning effect created by nuclear bomb explosions. A large variety and types of ionization/lightning effects are displayed. The pictures below are still shots taken from the video above, which comes from a film produced during the 1950s by the firm EG&G under contracts for the US Atomic Energy Commission. Any white spots on the video or in the pictures are due to the extremely high radiation pulse during the explosion.

The sum total of all of these open air nuclear tests is a huge amount of fallout. Even underground nuclear tests resulted in radiation plumes escaping to above ground. 

The fallout from all of these nuclear weapons tests covers almost all of the United States, as shown below..But most of the radiation from all of these nuclear tests stayed high up in the upper atmosphere, where it still circulates today.
