If you start with Thorium, it still decays through the entire chain from that point forward, just the same way. There is no 'safe' nuclear power. All low level radiation is deadly dangerous. Even a low dose of 'natural' radiation if taken in internally as a gas, such as with radon, at the end of this decay chain, can and does cause lung cancer. Check with the EPA website if you do not believe this.
Radon gas decays to a very toxic and deadly polonium, which is what the Russian mob used to assassinate people it did not like. The end product of thorium decay is lead, which is also deadly dangerous to children, even in microscopic amounts. Again, check with the EPA to find out how deadly it is. Bottom line, Thorium and all of the decay 'daughters' are deadly dangerous and have no business being taken out of the ground.

Any 'expert' that claims thorium or radon is 'safe' because it decays away in several hundred years is either a liar that you cannot trust, or they better go back to college and learn more about this radioactive decay chart and the dangers of the decay daughters.
The pro nuclear apologists and the nuclear industry loves to promote the 'hormesis' theory, which has been completely debunked. If hormesis is so good, why is it that we no longer have radium laced drinks, radon gas emitters in our homes, and pregnant women no longer get Xrays?
