Prophecy Sign:  World wide rise in food prices

Another example of just how quickly food prices can rise due to natural disasters or other factors.  Bible prophecy warns that a time will come during the Tribulation period when food will become a very costly commodity.  A days wage will only buy a family enough food for a day. 

Then I heard what sounded like a voice among the four living creatures, saying, "A quart of wheat for a day's wages, and three quarts of barley for a day's wages, and do not damage the oil and the wine!" Revelation 6:6 NIV

Thailand, the world's biggest producer of rice, has been hit hard by floods with 3.5 million tonnes of rice thought to have been damaged. But even before the floods hit, there was another problem: the government is offering to buy rice at a 50% premium. Their plan is to stockpile the rice to increase the price then to sell the produce at a higher rate to alleviate poverty among farmers.
