The above passage reveals a time when people living during the Tribulation will become entirely unrepentant, especially with those of the drug culture of the day. One of the key words used in the original Greek for this passage is Pharmakia, (interpreted in the KJV as Sorceries) which of course is the root word for pharmaceuticals or drugs. It's not necessarily just drugs of the illegal form but will be drug misuse of the legal kind as well. Reading the following articles, one can see how even now an entire generation is becoming hooked on all forms of drugs with horrible consequences.

Abuse of prescription painkiller have reached "epidemic" levels in the US, a government report says. Overdoses of pain relievers cause more deaths than heroin and cocaine combined, the report has found.  It says sales and prescriptions of the drugs rose sharply in recent years and this was linked to the rise in overdoses. Narcotic painkillers are prescribed to relieve chronic pain but the drugs can be "highly addictive", the report says. The report, published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), said fatalities caused by narcotic pain relievers have more than tripled in the last 10 years - equivalent to 40 deaths a day. Last year, a national survey on drug use and health showed that one in 20 Americans over the age of 12 said they had used painkillers for non-medical reasons.

A ‘forever young’ drug that allows people to grow old gracefully could soon be a reality. Durham University scientists have found a way of slowing down ageing in individual cells. They believe their work could help the elderly stay healthy well into their twilight years, as well as help children with a rare condition that causes them to grow old before their time. Researcher Chris Hutchison said: ‘The findings are at a very early stage but they show the potential for helping people live more comfortable and less painful lives when they reach 70 or 80 years of age and beyond.’
