Russia's Putin says wants to build "Eurasian Union"

Prophecy Sign:  The rise of the Russian alliance in the last days, (Magog/Meshek/Tubal and the King of the North)

Bible prophecy tells us that a kingdom, or alliance will come out of the northern parts, (north of Israel). Both Ezekiel and Daniel saw a northern based alliance engaged in warfare in the middle-east. In Ezekiel’s warning it was an alliance coming against Israel, with Daniel, it was a northern kingdom which would fight against the Antichrist. We are not sure if these northern based alliances are one and the same, but we do suspect and believe that Russiaand her satellite nations will make up parts of them.

These articles are very intriguing given future bible prophecy informs us of these northern alliances. We read that Russian Prime Minister, Vladimir Putin, (Gog the Chief Prince?), has a goal of aligning much of the former Soviet Union, (Meshek, Tubal, Magog?), into a new economic union. Might this be the start of the fulfillment of these prophecies?

Therefore, son of man, prophesy and say to Gog: ‘This is what the Sovereign LORD says: In that day, when my people Israel are living in safety, will you not take notice of it? You will come from your place in the far north, you and many nations with you, all of them riding on horses, a great horde, a mighty army. Ezekiel 38:14-15 NIV

At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. Daniel 11:40 NIV

Russia's Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said he wants to bring ex-Soviet states into a "Eurasian Union" in an article which outlined his first foreign policy initiative as he prepares to return to the Kremlin as the country's next president. Putin said the new union would build on an existing Customs Union with Belarus and Kazakhstan which from next year will remove all barriers to trade, capital and labor movement between the three countries. "We are not going to stop there and are setting an ambitious goal -- to achieve an even higher integration level in the Eurasian Union," Putin wrote in an article which will be published in Izvestia newspaper on October 4.

Tipping his hand on his foreign policy priorities if re-elected president next year, Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has called for the creation of a "Eurasian Union" of former Soviet countries that could serve as "a bridge" between Europe and Asia. The new union would further integrate the economies of existing customs union members Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan and gradually expand to include Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, Putin said in an article published Tuesday in Izvestia. "We won't stop with this and have set an ambitious goal to reach the next, higher level of integration — the Eurasian Union," he wrote. The Eurasian Union, which is supposed to become "a powerful supranational body" and "an effective bridge between Europe and the dynamic Asia-Pacific region," will welcome accession of other countries, with the CIS nations having a priority, the article said.
