Prophecy Sign: Signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars
Bible prophecy is particularly clear that the Sun will be given over to some
very drastic activity during the Tribulation period. We are told in the book of
Revelation that the Sun's intensity will become extreme, literally scorching
people. So it would not be a stretch to make the assumption that prior to those
terrible days of the Tribulation, the Sun will exhibit some unusual activity before hand,
(giant solar storms and solar flairs), as God prepares the Sun for one of the
coming Bowl judgements.
A giant Coronal Mass Ejection, (solar flair), striking the earth would
cause massive damage to our 21st Century technology. Quite likely rendering
much of the harder hit parts of the earth, a technological wasteland as power
grids and communication systems are destroyed. Just think how that would impact
upon your daily activities: No grocery shopping, no banking, no power, no fuel
to operate vehicles, (assuming vehicles still ran), no sanitation or water.
Cities would be a nightmare. Sounds like
the Tribulation, doesn’t it?
The fourth angel poured out his bowl upon the sun, and it
was given to it to scorch men with fire. Men were scorched with fierce heat;
and they blasphemed the name of God who has the power over these plagues, and
they did not repent so as to give Him glory. Revelation 16:8-9 NIV
From the article:
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA),
a federal agency that focuses on the condition of the oceans and atmosphere,
said a severe solar storm could cause global disruptions in GPS systems, power
grids, satellite communications, and airline communications.
With solar activity expected to peak around 2013, the Sun is
entering a particularly active time and big flares like the recent one will
likely be common during the next few years. Most solar flares will only cause
minor problems with satellites and power grids, but a major flare in the
mid-19th century blocked the nascent telegraph system, and some scientists
believe that another such event is now overdue.
According to a report by the National Research Council in
ones in the past could cause up to $2 trillion dollars in damage across the
globe today.
