Haniyeh on Nakba Day: Pray for an end to Israel

Prophecy Sign:  The enemies of Israel becoming ever more brazen, with the goal of destroying the Jewish state.

As we approach the September deadlines for the establishment of some sort of peace agreement, and the likely declaration of a new Arab state called Palestine, the Arab world becomes ever more fervent in their desire to eradicate the nation of Israel.

This past weekend saw the first of what will likely be more and more mass protests along Israel’s borders.  This past weekends marches and protests, which coincided with Israel’s 63rd anniversary of her establishment, sparked violence and resulted in several deaths.  As more and more of the nations of the world come out and support a unilateral declaration of a new Palestinian state, the Palestinians become less interested in actual negotiations with Israel.  Instead, they sit back with realization that the world is intent on carving up the land given by God to the Jewish people and handing it over to the Palestinians, including part of Jerusalem.  The Arab world knows that when this happens, Israel’s security will be greatly diminished and will become an easy target for attack.  This attack will have one purpose; To destroy Israel forever, and replace her with this new state called Palestine.

This is exactly what the Prophets of the Old Testament foresaw as they looked into the future, which we believe are the times we live in today.  These Prophets, from Ezekiel to Jeremiah, Isaiah to Obadiah, saw a series of end-time battles between Israel and much of the Muslim Arab world.

There is one particular war prophecy that seem to becoming ever closer to fulfillment.  We talk much about the battle outlined in Psalm 83 which indicates a great number of neighbouring Arab nations will form an alliance with the goal of wiping out the name of Israel forever.  When you read the current news headlines and articles, you can easily see the events are building for this battle to soon occur. 

See how your enemies growl, how your foes rear their heads. With cunning they conspire against your people; they plot against those you cherish. “Come,” they say, “let us destroy them as a nation, so that Israel’s name is remembered no more.”  Psalm 83:2-4 NIV

Hamas Prime Minister Ismail Haniyeh spoke to Muslim worshipers on Sunday morning, telling them to pray for an end to Israel. "Palestinians mark the Nakba with great hope of bringing to an end the Zionist project in Palestine," Haniyeh told 10,000 people at Gaza City's al-Omari mosque, AP reported.

On Sunday, it was 1,000 Syrians who marched on the border with Israel. Next week, it could be 10,000 Palestinians from the Gaza Strip who will march toward the Negev, or Palestinian refugees in Jordan who march toward the Jordan Valley. The successful infiltration on Sunday by a group of just under 100 Syrians into the Druse village of Majdal Shams on the Golan is being viewed by the IDF as just the beginning. As demonstrations like these gain momentum ahead of the planned declaration of statehood by the Palestinians in September, this type of protest could become a common occurrence along Israel’s various borders.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Monday took a tough line toward an emerging Palestinian government ahead of a high-profile trip to Washington, saying "those that want to destroy us are not partners in peace." Netanyahu reiterated a willingness to agree to a Palestinian state under certain conditions but made clear he did not believe it was possible if the Islamic militant group Hamas, which is set to join a Palestinian unity government with the Western-leaning Fatah movement, does not recognize Israel.

Israeli troops today clashed with Arab protesters along three hostile borders, including the frontier with Syria, leaving 16 people dead and dozens more wounded in an unprecedented wave of demonstrations marking a Palestinian day of mourning for their defeat at Israel's hands in 1948. Along Israel's border with Syria, thousands of protesters stormed the fence and hundreds burst through, pelting soldiers with stones, the military said. Soldiers guarding the border opened fire to stop them. Dozens were wounded and four were reported killed.  Israeli defence officials said the military had not expected protesters to try to breach the border and was caught by surprise.
