Will Earthbound Comet Fulfill 2012 Prophecy?

Prophecy Sign:  There will be signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars

Jesus Christ warned that one of the signs of his soon return to earth would be signs in the cosmos, (sun, moon and stars).  We are not quite sure what he meant by this.  However, we do know that there are several biblical passages that indicate that at the time of the end, the moon would turn blood red and the Sun would be blackened, (Isaiah 13:10, Joel 2:31, Matthew 24:29, Mark 13:24, Acts 2:20, Revelation 6:12).  We also know from bible prophecy that large objects will crash to earth, (meteors, asteroids), causing incredible devastation on earth, (Revelation 8:8-11).

It's nearly 300 million miles away and barrelling toward us. The intruder from deep space, called comet Elenin, crosses Earth's orbit on its inbound leg and again on its outbound swing around the sun later this year. Russian astronomer Leonid Elenin discovered the innocuous little comet on Dec. 10, 2010, at International Scientific Optical Network's robotic observatory near Mayhill, New Mexico.

Presently the comet is a faint smudge of light in deep sky exposures. By late August comet Elenin should be visible to the naked eye as a dim "fuzzy star" with a tail. Over a few weeks the visitor will speed across the spring constellation Virgo and toward Leo on its outbound leg. A dizzying collection of doomsday predictions have been linked to comet Elenin. The hysteria was inevitable as anxiety grows over the approach of 2012 -- that is supposedly a game-changing year for life on Earth. At least according to some interpretations of the ancient Mayan calendar.
