Our Sun is getting quite active. Last month the earth just missed getting swiped by a massive solar flair, and now we have another one on the way. Keep in mind that the solar max of activity is not scheduled to occur until next year, (2012).
Bible prophecy tells us that in these, the last days, we will witness signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars. The activity of our Sun may or may not be one of the signs Jesus was speaking of, but in any event, it may make for some awesome displays in coming months.
