Israel might seek interim Palestinian peace deal

We have a pair of interesting articles here:

Sources say that Israel would be willing to consider an interim peace agreement with the Palestinians which would be spread out over several years.  At the same time, Israel is said to be ready and willing to talk peace with Syria, so long as the return of the Golan Heights to Syria is not on the table.

We are these articles interesting?  Because we are told in the Book of Daniel that a peace agreement with Israel lasting seven years will be brokered by the Antichrist, kicking off the seven year Tribulation period.  One has to ask the question, why seven years and not five or ten?  In fact why a time frame at all?  Don't all peace agreements by definition presume to last in perpetuity?

So when we hear talk of implementing an interim peace treaty between Israel and her enemies which would last several years, our ears perk up.  Wouldn't it be compelling if in September of this year, (which is the date the quartet of America, Russia, the U.N. and the E.U have pegged as a deadline date), an interim agreement were to be brokered that had an implementation period of seven years?
He will confirm a covenant with many for one 'seven.' In the middle of the 'seven' he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And on a wing [of the temple] he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him." Daniel NIV

From the articles:
Israel is considering pursuing an interim peace agreement with the Palestinians, a senior official said on Tuesday, signalling the government might abandon efforts to secure a single, comprehensive accord. The official, who declined to be named, said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu might seek a "phased path" toward a permanent deal rather than a treaty that resolved all the core issues as envisaged by the United States and European allies.
Israeli officials have long argued that an interim deal spread out over many years would be easier to conclude than negotiating a single treaty that dealt with all the difficult, core issues such as the status of Jerusalem.

Israel is willing to enter into peace negotiations with Syria but giving up the Golan Heights will not be on the table, an Israeli official said. "There is no justification or reason for Israel to cede the Golan Heights," Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman told envoys from Japan and Romania along with Quartet envoy Tony Blair, Ynetnews.com reported Tuesday.
