Some folks wonder if this prophecy has not already been fulfilled by the three previous middle east wars since the establishment of Israel as a nation in 1948. Wars occurred in 1948/49, 1967 and 1973, and featured many of the same nations that are included in the prophecies contained in the above mentioned bible passages.
The answer to this is yes and no. Many of the nations that have come against Israel in these wars never made peace with Israel at the conclusion of the wars. The only two that did were Egypt and Jordan . The nations that participated in these wars are still very much intact and have greatly renewed their ability to wage war once again with Israel .
So yes these previous wars may be part of an ongoing scenario of a prophetic war. And no, because we haven’t yet seen the ultimate battle that will see the destruction of Damascus, (which has never happened – Isaiah 17), and the decimation of these neighboring Arab nations to the point that Israel can become a nation living in peace without walls, (as prophesied in Ezekiel 38).
From the news article:
Israeli civilians living around the Gaza border woke up Saturday, March 19, to the most massive mortar attack in years – 50 rounds fired in 15 minutes. Two civilians were injured and substantial damage caused to property. Hamas unusually claimed responsibility, emboldened by the support it has won from a new ally, the new rulers of Cairo , which have now lined up with Syria and Iran .
The Netanyahu government has not informed the Israeli public about the ominous new winds blowing in from Cairo although they are already in motion: Cairo has given Hamas rule of the Gaza Strip de facto recognition, is about to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip and is forging new understandings with Damascus and the Palestinian Hamas and Islamic Jihad radicals based there.
