European countries want UN, not U.S., to advance Mideast peace talks

Bible prophecy tells us that the event that will begin the clock on the seven year Tribulation period, (of which the last half is know as the Great Tribulation), will be the signing of a covenant of peace between Israel and the world.  This agreement is perhaps the most important yet to be fulfilled prophetic event on the horizon.  This agreement will not only start the seven year Tribulation period, but will also out the identity of the Antichrist.

We know from prophecy that this individual will have a tie in with the peoples of the old Roman Empire.  Most prophecy experts concluded that the future Antichrist will rise out of the current European Union which is the restored western leg of the old Roman Empire.

It's very interesting that several European nations are now pressing for representatives of the European Union to be the ones to draw up and finalize any settlements between the Palestinians and Israel.  Will this also be the case when the seven year covenant is signed in the future?

After the sixty-two ‘sevens,’ (434 years),  the Anointed One, (Jesus Christ), will be put to death and will have nothing. The people, (Roman Empire), of the ruler who will come, (Antichrist), will destroy the city and the sanctuary, (happened in 70 A.D.).  The end will come like a flood: War will continue until the end, and desolations have been decreed. He, (Antichrist), will confirm a covenant with many, (Israel and the world), for one ‘seven.’, (week of years = 7 years).  In the middle of the ‘seven’, (3 ½ years into the seven year covenant), he will put an end to sacrifice and offering. And at the temple he will set up an abomination that causes desolation, until the end that is decreed is poured out on him. Daniel 9:26-27 NIV – and commentary by us.

From the news article:
Britain, France and Germany want the United Nations and the European Union to propose the outlines of a final settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict that would lead to the establishment of a Palestinian state, UN diplomats said. The three European countries, all members of the UN Security Council, are pressing for Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the European Union to propose a settlement text at a meeting in mid-April of the Quartet of Mideast mediators, the diplomats said, speaking on condition of anonymity because talks are taking place in private.
