Earthquake hits China south-west near Burma border

Coming off yesterdays 7.3 magnitude earthquake off the coast of Japan comes a couple more Asian and South Pacific earthquakes.  This time, one that has claimed lives.

As we have pointed out many times, Jesus warned that prior to his return to earth, we would see many earthquakes occurring all over the world. (Matthew 24, Mark 13, Luke 21)

An earthquake that struck in south-west China near the border with Burma has killed at least 22 people and injured more than 200 others, reports say. The 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck 225km (140 miles) southwest of Dali in Yunnan province at 1258 (0458 GMT), the US Geological Survey said.

A strong earthquake has hit northeastern Papua New Guinea, but there are no immediate reports of damage. The U.S. Geological Survey says the preliminary magnitude of the Thursday morning quake was 6.6.  The epicenter of the quake, which was fairly shallow at a depth of 43 kilometers, was 27 kilometers northeast of the town of Kandrian. Scientists say the quake is not expected to generate a widespread tsunami.
