Residents of both Arkansas and Chile must be feeling just a little jittery of late, what with all the recent earthquake activity in their vicinities.

Residents across the state of Arkansas were awoken by the strongest earthquake yet Sunday night. According the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), a preliminary magnitude 4.7 hit 4 miles northeast of Greenbrier just after 11:00 p.m.  It was felt across the state as well as into Missouri and Mississippi. Two aftershocks where reported afterwards, a 3.8 magnitude then a 3.6 magnitude.  So far, there have been no reports of damage or injuries.

A magnitude 6.0 earthquake struck Chile on Sunday evening, the U.S. Geological Survey said. It was centered 23 miles south of Concepcion in southern Chile. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The quake, which struck at a depth of 10 miles (16 kilometres), occurred on the one-year anniversary of an 8.8-magnitude temblor that killed 521 people and left thousands homeless in the South American nation.
