Inter-Korean talks collapse after North's walkout

It's been quite for the last couple months on the Korean Peninsula, but this hotspot still simmers on the backburner, and has the potential to explode at anytime.  Just another example of what Jesus was referring to when speaking with his disciples:

Military talks aimed at easing high tensions between North and South Korea broke down Wednesday when the North's delegation walked out, Seoul's defence ministry said. The two sides had been meeting for the first time since the North's deadly shelling of a South Korean island on November 23, which briefly sparked fears of war.  A ministry spokesman told AFP the delegates even failed to discuss when to meet again. "Under the current situation, we can say the talks have collapsed."

North Korea has announced that no new talks are possible with South Korea. A North Korean military statement blamed South Korea for "sinister" motives and for the collapse of preliminary military discussions. The talks at the border village of Panmunjom were the first since the North shelled a South Korean island in November, killing four people.
