Free Gravity Lighting, Free Solar Bottle Lighting Can Meet Sustainable Lighting Needs For 1.5 Billion People Who Have NO Access To Electricity

1.5 Billion people live around the world making less than $2 per day. Those same people have no access to electricity. Can you imagine living without any electricity, permanently?

LIGHTBULBS MADE OUT OF PLASTIC BOTTLES AND SCRAP PIECE OF METAL

The cheapest light bulb in the world costs less than $1.00 to make. A plastic light bulb is filled with a mixture of water and chlorine bleach, then sealed. It is sealed into a hole in the roof, or a patch of a piece of metal, put into the existing roof in whatever way. Of course, it helps to have some kind of adhesive to waterproof the lightbulb into the roof.

This low tech device provides the same amount of light as a 50 watt bulb during daylight hours.

An electric-powered device is called "Gravity Light," which costs just $5.00, uses the force of gravity to keep the lights on. VOA's Paul Ndiho has more.

SUMMARY

For a total of around $1 one time cost, permanent and free daylight can be created in a small home. The savings on fuel oil from not having to spend money on carbon based fuel will eventually pay for the night time light, which costs around $5.

With the savings from not having to buy carbon fuel for the night time lighting, other low cost electronic devices can be saved for and purchased. The night light can also serve as a charging device, for a cell phone or it can power a small radio, thus creating a connection into the larger world.

Several families pool their money together, and purchase the cell phone or radio and then share it in a cooperative manner.

For less than $7 one time cost, lighting both during the day and night can be accomplished in the average family home for 1.5 Billion people who have no access to electricity.
