"Global Momentum is building for a treaty to ban nuclear weapons! While the world has banned chemical and biological weapons, there is no explicit legal prohibition of nuclear weapons, although the International Court of Justice ruled unanimously that there is an obligation to bring to a conclusion negotiations for their total elimination. The Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), negotiated in 1970 required the five existing nuclear weapons states, the US, Russia, UK, France and China (P-5) to make “good faith efforts” to eliminate their nuclear weapons, while the rest of the world promised not to acquire them (except for India, Pakistan, Israel, who never signed the NPT). North Korea relied on the NPT Faustian bargain for “peaceful” nuclear power to build its own bomb, and then walked out of the treaty."

UN member states overwhelmingly ban nuclear weapons. A UN vote was taken On General and Complete Disarmament -- only 2 nations voted against it, and the US was one of them. The no votes were swamped by the votes of 180 member states that wanted the whole world to disarm completely.

The US seems to be the only nation on Earth that consistently votes AGAINST the abolishing of weapons of mass destruction, whether that is land mines, cluster bombs, DU weapons, etc. Now the US is one of the only two nations to vote against dismantling of nuclear weapons. Did you hear about this in the corporate controlled mass media news? No? Isn't that interesting? What else did we not hear about? 

How is it that only two nations can hold the whole world hostage?

The world is now a global village. As a village, when the majority votes on something, that should be what happens. How is it that one or two nations can block the whole global village of all other nations, especially when they are so very clear on it? The United Nations was set up to prevent another World War. Despite the very best efforts of 180 nations, the United States, which originally set up the UN, is now the worst offender, the biggest block and the single worst risk to the whole world in terms of initiating World War III. 

President Obama promised he would get rid of nuclear weapons in 2009 in a speech he gave. He even won the Nobel Peace Prize for that speech. But everything he has done since then has created the opposite situation. He has consistently voted and approved 1 TRILLION in new spending on nuclear weapons, and even more money for the nuclear energy complex.

The UN vote illustrated above, is an example of how just one or two nations (and a tiny warmongering minority within it) can hold the whole world hostage with weapons of mass destruction, and obstruct something that the whole world wants.

The two votes against dismantling the nuclear arsenal point at a deeper threat to the whole world, and that is how the whole world is put at risk of extinction by just having these weapons sitting there, either in missile silos, or in spent fuel pools at nuclear plants. 

ONE SINGLE TERROR ATTACK CAN DESTROY THE WHOLE WORLD IF JUST A SINGLE NUCLEAR PLANT WITH MANY SPENT FUEL POOLS IS DESTROYED

Just one small terrorist group can take out a whole country by attacking a nuclear power plant and causing it to melt down and out/explode. Each spent fuel pool at a nuclear plant is equal to 1,000 nuclear bombs. If nuclear bombs are banned, then nuclear power plants also need to be banned and the fuel stored somewhere that is MUCH safer than those spent fuel pools.
