Interview with Jan Lovelace, widow of poisoned nuclear complex worker Harry Lovelace, details the trials both have gone through to try get help through the Energy Employee Occupational Illness Compensation Program Act of 2000 (EEOICPA) administered by the U.S. Dept. of Labor. Jan also describes the extreme personal difficulties of Harry's illness, attributed to his work as a fireman at the Oak Ridge National Laboratory in Tennessee. About EEOICP

The Energy Employees Occupational Illness Compensation Program (EEOICP) began on July 31, 2001 with the Department of Labor’s implementation of Part B; Part E implementation began on October 28, 2004. The mission of the program is to provide lump-sum compensation and health benefits to eligible Department of Energy nuclear weapons workers (including employees, former employees, contractors and subcontractors) and lump-sum compensation to certain survivors if the worker is deceased. When you apply for either Part B and/or Part E we will collect medical, employment, and other information from you and make a decision about whether or not you qualify for compensation and benefits.

DEEOIC Reaches $10 Billion Milestone in Compensation & Medical Bills Paid – The EEOICP has reached the “$10 billion dollars in compensation and medical bills paid” milestone as of December 2013. Our statistics now show that as of December 29, 2013, DEEOIC has paid a total of $5.2 billion in compensation under Part B and $3.1 billion in compensation under Part E (for a combined total of $8.3 billion in compensation under both Parts B and E). DEEOIC has also paid more than $1.7 billion in medical bills to eligible claimants."
