5 Reasons Why Nuclear Energy Is A Dead End Technology, by Jeremy Rifkin - Advisor To Heads Of State Around The World

At the Wermuth Asset Management, 5th Annual Investors Event, Jeremy Rifkin predicts the future of nuclear power, and gives 5 reasons why it is a dead end technology and non starter as a future energy source.

Who is Jeremy Rifkin;?*CNN: "Internationally renowned economist"; Forbes: "Economist and energy visionary [...] advisor to the European Union and to heads of state around the world."

He is not the only one saying nuclear power is dead and obsolete. Reuters and the U.S. Energy Information Administration said that "Lower natural gas prices and stagnant growth in electric demand will lead to the loss of 10,800 megawatts of U.S. nuclear generation, or around 10 percent of total capacity, by the end of the decade."

In other words, nuclear power can no longer compete with cheaper sources of energy that do not pose the risks of meltdown, radioactive contamination of tens of thousands of square miles of land and no answer for nuclear wastes, terrorist threats, plus constant emissions of huge amounts of global warming gases, such as radioactive Krypton and Carbon 14.

Nuclear energy is becoming more and more expensive, while the renewable energy sources, such as wind, solar, geothermal and more are all becoming cheaper than nuclear power.

Wikipedia; "The IPCC has said that if governments were supportive, and the full complement of renewable energy technologies were deployed, renewable energy supply could account for almost 80% of the world's energy use within forty years.[200]

Rajendra Pachauri, chairman of the IPCC, said the necessary investment in renewables would cost only about 1% of global GDP annually. This approach could contain greenhouse gas levels to less than 450 parts per million, the safe level beyond which climate change becomes catastrophic and irreversible.[200]

The cost of nuclear power has followed an increasing trend whereas the cost of electricity is declining for wind power.[201] In about 2011, wind power became as inexpensive as natural gas, and anti-nuclear groups have suggested that in 2010 solar power became cheaper than nuclear power.[202][203]
