Safecast Radiation Readings From Inside Fukushima Daichi Plant Finally Revealed In Dec. 2013 - 192 USv/Hr, 5,900,000 CPM

2013 - FIRST TIME SAFECAST HAS EVER BEEN ALLOWED IN

Safecast; posted this on Dec. 11th, 2013; "Another milestone for us today – this one quite significant. Until now we’ve been able to measure the exclusion zone around the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Plant but we haven’t been inside the actual grounds... This week some of our volunteers were able to bring a bGeigie on a tour inside the gates and around the plant. For obvious reasons we’d expect incredibly high readings here...."

RADIATION LEVELS SURGE AT FUKUSHIMA ON REGULAR BASIS

2014 - Tokyo Professor: Surges in airborne radioactive releases have gone on for years at Fukushima — Exceeded 25,000 times normal level — Radiation alarms sound for hours at plant — ‘Extensive’ areas being impacted (VIDEO)

SAFECAST READINGS ARE THE LOWEST POSSIBLE EXPOSURE FOR WORKERS, ACTUAL RADIATION EXPOSURE IS MUCH HIGHER

The point being made here is that the SAFECAST radiation levels recorded below are artificially low for many reasons. As the article above points out, radiation levels go up much higher at the plant, for many reasons, on a regular basis.

If a worker goes off the road and into the dirt, radiation levels will be much higher.
If a worker is exposed to ground readings instead of chest high readings, radiation levels will be much higher, such as working by digging a trench, or having to lay on the ground, etc.
If a worker goes into any hot spot, radiation levels will be much higher.
If a worker goes to the areas of the tanks, radiation levels will be much higher.
If a worker is exposed to water coming from underground, radiation levels will be much higher.
If a worker is exposed to dust coming from buildings as they are demolished, radiation levels will be much higher.
If workers are exposed to highly concentrated radiation in ALPS water treatment system, radiation levels will be much higher.
If workers are exposed to trenches and water in them, they will be exposed to much higher radiation levels.
If workers are around the wells monitoring radiation underground, they will get much higher radiation levels.
And so on... and on and on.

WORKERS SIGN SECRECY AGREEMENT AND BEING THREATENED IF THEY TALK ABOUT FUKUSHIMA

Another news report alleges that employees are beaten and threatened with death if they speak out about the horrible working conditions at the plant.

Another element that is important to address is the seemingly low readings by Safecast and the TEPCO radiation monitors outside of Fukushima Daichi. Remember that these are chest high air readings, not ground readings. The higher one goes in the air, the lower the radiation readings are.

TEPCO is known for turning their stationary radiation monitors down by 50% or more, compared to a Geiger Counter held right next to them. Then they also 'decontaminate' areas right around their meters, so these 'special' areas read lower than the surrounding areas in terms of radiation generally.

HOT SPOTS, #3 CRITICALITY EXPLOSION AND MULTIPLE MELT OUTS NOT ACCOUNTED FOR

The Safecast radiation monitoring network is not meant to record soil readings. Safecast is also not meant to record specific hot spots, such as the 25 Sieverts hot spot that was documented inside Fusushima Daichi. Safecast is designed to give a general overview of air readings only, in a very diffuse manner, usually from the road, not off in the fields or woods or around homes or schools, where radiation levels will be much higher.

DECONSTRUCTION RADIOACTIVE DUST EVENTS NOT ACCOUNTED FOR

Via razzzAugust 1, 2014 "TEPCO is about to disturb and release more radioactivity (airborne) again. Damned if the do and damned if they don't. First of all, the tent and frame are radioactive and have to be treated as such. Second, the tent while containing some radioactive releases, trapped radioactivity and made the building (Unit 1) it was covering more contaminated. Haven't read what the plan of attack is yet but that fuel pool contains the least amount of spent fuel for removal.

'“Cover removal of Reactor 1 is one month behind the schedule.”'

"1 trillion (10^12) Bq of radioactive material is assumed to be released due to the debris removal from Reactor 3 operation floor last summer. The government of Japan requires Tepco not to repeat it to remove the cover of Reactor 1. Tepco is reinforcing the monitoring system around Reactor 1, but there is no fundamental measures to control the dust to be released."

HIGH RADIATION SPIKES AND EVENTS NOT INCLUDED

The Safecast readings also do not include exposure to things like the radioactive steam that belches out of Building #3 on a regular basis, as well as steam or smoke coming out of the ground around the site, from the melted out underground coriums.

Via majia July 31, 2014 "The Asahi Shimbun article linked by Enenews has some interesting disclosures about radiation events at Fukushima Daiichi. The researchers cited in the article publicly blame the spikes in cesium levels they detected in two years of monitoring on construction work at the site. There is no doubt that construction work at Fukushima Daiichi can produce and disseminate radioactive dust. However, two of the periods mentioned as having high cesium levels roughly coincide with notable events at Daiichi viewed on the TEPCO and TBS webcams, especially the August 2013“fire-looking” phenomenon behind units 3 and 4.

The Dropbox link includes excerpts from The Asahi Shimbun article and webcam images from the relevant time periods. I also include a chart of Iodine-131 from sewage sludge in the vicinity of Daiichi.

This continued. Then I noted they were removing something..using robots and coming from R3. So into water storage, via crane..then robot pickup up to barge. Something nasty going on. And lots of rads floating around in the smoke events and fires.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/hupt38qeuhnsijy/japan%2008322013%20fuel%20rod%20water%20storage.JPG

My theory is Reactor 3 had issues, or events/criticalities, and as much as they could they tried to haul out fuel rods..or maybe the haul out CAUSED the events..but black smokes and removal happened together."

Via PhilipUpNorth August 1, 2014 "Zogerke, did you ever catch a glimpse of Tokyo's Storm Sewer System? It is VERY large and impressive.

The answer to your question is yes.
Virtually all of the Iodine-131 in Tokyo sewage sludge is from these sources:
1. The water supply itself.
2. From food wastes and feces.
3. From urine, and from ingestion.
4. From showers and baths (external fallout).

And not from storm runoff.
Iodine-131 comes from very recent Fukushima criticalities. (8-day half life)
It goes through the people.
And is measured in sanitary sewage sludge.
Tokyo is toast."

Japan Should Have Evacuated At Least 40 Million People Due To Fukushima Mega Nuclear Disaster; via @AGreenRoad
http://agreenroad.blogspot.com/2012/04/japan-plans-to-evacuate-40-million.html

Bottom line, this mega nuclear disaster is a cover up of epic proportions. TEPCO has managed to cover up 99% or more of what has really happened.

PAVED ROADS OFTEN ORDERS OF MAGNITUDE LOWER THAN SOIL NEAR ROAD

On the paved road radiation readings are often orders of magnitude lower than the soil or forest radiation readings away from the road. Even within the plant, the roads are going to be the very lowest radiation areas, but the dirt areas within the plant where buried fuel rods are, will be much higher in radiation. Hot spots have been documented up to 25 Sieverts inside the plant.

Safecast is VERY valuable as citizen monitoring network, but it still does not provide instant emergency updates and individual notifications to you as a reader, in case something bad happens. Safecast cannot protect anyone from anything. It is important to have trained and capable Safecast participants driving around on roads, taking readings with pancake style detectors, but they are NOT the only thing required to respond to mega nuclear disasters such as Fukushima.

IODINE AIRBORNE PUFFS FROM UNDERGROUND CORIUMS NOT INCLUDED IN SAFECAST READINGS

Via PhilipUpNorth August 1, 2014 "One metric to follow, regarding the continuous nature of Fukushima radiocontamination releases is the graph of Iodine-131 found in Tokyo Sewage Sludge.
http://optimalprediction.com/files/tokyo5-14-14.gif

Why is this graph so important?
1. Iodine-131 has a half-life of 8 days, and always indicates new releases from criticalities within the 3 underground rogue nuclear reactors at Fukushima.

2. Iodine-131 is measured in sewage sludge everywhere across central Japan, but I watch Tokyo because it should have been evacuated by 3/15/2010, but wasn't. Tokyo should be evacuated now, but isn't.

3. Contamination of sewage sludge means that dangerous and harmful levels of Iodine-131 fallout is in the water supply, in the food, lodging in thyroid glands, and being excreted by millions of doomed Tokyo residents.

3. People erroneously believe Fukushima was an incident that happened in the past, but in truth it is ongoing and continuous.

4. The fact is that radioactive releases are actually increasing over time.

5. Outsiders are always surprised to see a graphic representation of Fukushima radiation releases over time.

6. ENEnewsers, especially those who monitor the Webcams, leave a record here of their observations of Fukushima releases over time, and are not surprised to see continuous emissions, clearly viseable at night time."

CONVERSIONS FOR ABOVE FIGURES

120 CPM on the meter (for Cs137) is about 1 uSv/hr (microSievert per hour).

1,200 CPM on the meter (for Cs137) is about 1 mR/hr (milliRad per hour).

LOWEST LEVEL

Modern Survival above; 100 uSv/hr = 12,000 CPM (low level interpretation)

MEDIUM LEVEL

Safecast reported that 100 uSv/hr = 31,920 CPM (medium level interpretation)

Aware Electronics reported 100 uSv/hr = 34,500 CPM (medium level interpretation)

345 CPM on the meter (for Cs137) is about 1 uSv/hr (microSievert per hour)

For LND pancake tube we use Nominal cpm/mR/hr for Cs-137: 3545. So Nominal cpm/microSv/hr for Cs-137: 354.5. Therefore 1 microSv/hr = 354.5 CPM

HIGH LEVEL

AIST reported that 100 uSv/hr = 3,000,000 cpm (high level interpretation)

Safecast; "Keep in mind these readings were taken outside of the buildings – there are a number of places inside that are still completely off limits to anyone except robots that are likely orders of magnitude higher than this. We’re hoping to have more readings from inside soon, stay tuned. A few more photos after the jump."

AIR READINGS AT CHEST HEIGHT MUCH LOWER THAN RADIATION ON GROUND

Also, keep in mind that these are all AIR readings, taken at about chest height. These are not ground readings, which will be much higher. For more radiation readings outside of the plant, layered on top of the 'evacuation' zones, click here.

Because Safecast is not allowed in, and we only have one snapshot of radiation levels inside the plant on what was a day with the lowest radiation levels possible, here are some other news sources, showing increasing levels of radiation inside the plant. In other words, things are getting worse and worse, as far as radiation exposure levels of workers.

RADIATION LEVELS RISING AT PLANT OVER TIME, NOW 1,000 PERCENT HIGHER THAN PREVIOUS LEVELS

Kyodo, Jan. 11, 2014: Nuclear regulators on Friday called on [Tepco] to take action to address rising radiation levels at the border of the crippled Fukushima No. 1 plant’s premises, which have jumped to levels eight times higher than the regulatory limit. According to plant operator Tepco, an evaluation of radiation exposure caused by toxic water, rubble and debris, and other waste kept at the plant was below the limit of 1 millisievert per year as of March (2013), but surged to 7.8 millisieverts as of August (2013). [...]

AGRP is wondering;

What is TEPCO telling their employees on site at Daichi, that they are exposed to?

What are the dosimeters measuring?

How does this compare with what the Safecast measurements are?

What kind of internal radiation are these workers absorbing, given that according to the news reports, radiation levels have gone up seven fold on the Fukushima site just in the year 2013?

It would seem that the workers are getting higher and higher levels of radiation exposure, wouldn't you agree?

CONVERSION TABLE AND YEARLY RADIATION EXPOSURE, ACTIONS TO TAKE

WHAT DO CPM NUMBERS MEAN AS FAR AS HEALTH RISK

What do the Radiation Network CPM numbers mean with regards to health risk?

With the examples of radiation dose listed above, we can correlate how long it would take to experience those effects based on a hypothetical Geiger counter CPM number.

So, let’s use the number 100, since this is the threshold that the Radiation Networkwebsite has chosen. The Cs137 calibration factor listed above (120 CPM) was converted to obtain the proper factored results listed below (0.83x). Higher CPM numbers are also listed for relevancy.

So now let's plug in the light yellow - 192 uSv/hr and the 23,800 CPM to 5,900,000 CPM radiation figure at Fukushima Daichi. Using this CPM figure, it would mean someone working in that area all by itself would experience radiation sickness in;

Assuming the Safecast numbers are accurate and the CPM ranges are also accurate, with the middle one being most accurate, the average worker would start experiencing radiation sickness starting in approximately 45 days at the Fukushima site, assuming they spent all their time in that radiation environment. But remember that these radiation readings are probably all too low, for all of the reasons indicated above.

What are your thoughts about which CPM number would be most accurate? Email us at agreenroad at gmail dot com

Maybe the more intelligent workers at Fukushima Daichi are starting to figure all of this out. Maybe the word is spreading about how dangerous it is to work here for nothing more than minimum wage. Maybe the intelligent workers are figuring out that things are rapidly getting worse and worse as far as radiation level exposures for workers inside the Fukushima plant, and they get the heck out of there.

FUKUSHIMA REACTOR BUILDINGS SO HOT, GOING INSIDE IS A DEATH SENTENCE

The radiation inside some of these reactor buildings are so high, that workers cannot even go in their and live to tell about it.

There are also hot spots around the plant that mean death sentences for anyone straying too near. Arnie Gunderson has said that the tank farm is emitting gamma radiation so high, that it is a death sentence for anyone getting within 4 feet of the tanks. Yet, many pictures show workers walking and working very close to these tanks.

Remember too that the pro nuclear experts say that no one has died or will die from radiation exposure due to Fukushima. Do you still believe this ridiculous fairy tale? How long are these nuclear workers allowed to work in this high radiation death zone?

Maybe this is the reason why they are 'recruiting' homeless people to work at the plant now. According to Forbes, homeless shelters are 'selling' homeless people to gangsters who then force them to work at Daichi for minimum wages. We wonder how many are getting accurate radiation detectors while they are at work there. This video says only the 'leaders' of work groups get a detector.. Has this changed at all?

TEPCO HIRING HOMELESS TO WORK AT FUKUSHIMA

At the end of the month, after 'housing' and 'food' costs are deducted, these homeless guys owe the gangsters more money than when they started, so essentially at least some of the workers there are modern day slaves and they will work until they die or until they are discarded as radioactive waste, or radiation refugees.

SAFECAST READINGS POINT TO NEED FOR OWNING YOUR OWN RADIATION MONITOR

There are multiple radiation monitoring networks globally and that is a very good thing, as well as a very positive development. But having Safecast and the other radiation monitoring networks available to you, is still not as good as owning your own pancake style radiation detector. A pancake style Geiger counter owned by you may save your life, or the life of a family member someday.

A citizen radiation monitoring network is good, valuable and worthy, but still not as valuable as owning your own radiation detector, and then having it turned on 24 hours a day, with an alarm level set, (such as 100 CPM) which will wake you up if it goes off, just like a smoke detector or a CO detector. If you believe in smoke detectors to protect you and your family, then you need a high quality pancake style radiation detector, turned on and monitoring the air, 24 hours a day. Monitoring outside air is best, but even having one indoors is good.

MONITOR RADIATION IN YOUR HOME, WORKPLACE, ON VACATION

It is also important to train yourself in how to use a radiation detector, and to monitor radiation levels in food as well as your general environment, to keep tabs on what is going on. Are things getting better, staying about the same or getting worse? Is the hotel, beach or forest you are spending time in radioactive or safe? Here is an example of just one hotel that tested radioactive.

Test Everything! Radioactive Potassium Found In Hotel; via @AGreenRoad

TEST YOUR HOME FOR RADIATION

Is your couch (where pets spend time) testing ok? Is the pet bed ok? Is the vacuum cleaner dust testing ok? Is the dirty furnace filter testing ok? Are the bottoms of your shoes ok? Are the jackets hanging in the closet ok? Is the dried food product such as seaweed, tea, raisins, fish or nuts you just bought testing normal? Is the dirty car air filter testing ok? These are just a FEW places where radiation will build up, concentrate and collect to measurable amounts, if it is out there, according to several nuclear experts, such as Arnie Gunderson and Chris Busby.

NO ONE ELSE WILL PROTECT YOU FROM DANGEROUS RADIATION

The answers to these questions cannot be answered by a radiation monitoring network, the government, or even the EPA, NRC, or anyone else. Only you and a pancake style Geiger counter can get some idea of what is going on in your specific household. Remember that Geiger counters are NOT designed to test for radiation in food or liquids, but a pancake style Geiger counter is sensitive enough to warn you if a dried food product has high levels of radiation in it, by providing some warning indication. To really find out what is in a specific food item as far as bq/kg, a very specific food radiation testing machine is required, and they cost anywhere from $1,500 to $18,000.

HOW TO SOLVE PROBLEM OF NUCLEAR ACCIDENTS, NUCLEAR MISSILES

Keep your family safe, and push to shut down reactors plus dismantle the nuclear missile arsenal by voting only for those candidates who take no corporate money. We can dismantle the Matrix, but only if we act together, inform others and VOTE. We are the 99%, and they are still only the 1%.
