Prophecy Sign:  The coming collapse of the world markets and the global economy

You know things are getting pretty bad in the markets when financial news writers and observers start comparing what is to come with the dark days of the Tribulation, (see the second article below).

We know things will only get worse in the global economy as we are told as much in bible prophecy. James 5, Revelation 18 and Ezekiel 7 are some of the biblical prophecies that indicate a coming time of economic calamites where even gold and silver will be of little use.

They will throw their silver into the streets, and their gold will be treated as a thing unclean. Their silver and gold will not be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’s wrath. It will not satisfy their hunger or fill their stomachs, for it has caused them to stumble into sin. Ezekiel 7:19 NIV

From the articles:
Fasten your seat belts: 2011 was far worse than expected. Our earlier predictions for America’s Worst Decade just got worse. As financial historian Niall Ferguson writes in Newsweek: “Double-Dip Depression … We forget that the Great Depression was like a soccer match, there were two halves.” The 1929 crash kicked off the first half. But what “made the depression truly ‘great’ …began with the European banking crisis of 1931.” Sound familiar?
As Ferguson puts it: “To understand what has been happening in our own borderline depression, you need to know this history. But hardly anyone does.” Get it? America’s already in a “borderline depression,” and virtually nobody gets it. American leaders are dummies about history. Worse, nobody may be able to stop our depression from turning “great.”

MarketWatch's Paul B. Farrell had an interesting article Tuesday on how America is on the path for a decade from hell. In Farrell's opinion, this "decade from hell will get worse in 2012". Farrell portends a coming stock market crash, political dysfunctionality, revolution, and various wars that stem from class differences and commodity clashes between countries in the near future.
Whether or not Farrell realized it at the time, in some ways Farrell's dark forecast sounds akin to the Great Tribulation. Farrell may have called it a "decade from hell", but it sounded a bit like a great tribulation. Throw in a little Mayan 2012 prophecy & St. Malachy's Prophecy of the Popes and Farrell might as well have been writing that the end is nigh. Given the convenience of the decade-long time frame, Farrell's commentary fits well into the seven-year mold of the Great Tribulation. Farrell discussed that by 2020, people will realize that "male dominance of leadership roles in philosophy, economics, politics and culture throughout history...has failed our civilization, bringing the world to the brink of total destruction." Bringing the world to the brink of total destruction? How much closer to the Great Tribulation can you get?
