Russia vows to support Palestinian UN membership bid

Prophecy Sign:  God will judge the nations for dividing the land he has given to the Jewish people

The nations are being brought to the table by Almighty God, and they are being presented with this question; Are you in favor of further dividing the land which has been given as an eternal inheritance the Jewish People? The nations will then be judged by God for their response to that question.

We are now seeing the answers to this question from many of the nations of the world. Some like Russia, China, Norwayand Venezuelahave said yes, while others such as Canadaand Americawill say no. We know which of these nations will be blessed for giving the correct answer of NO. God has promised to bless those nations that stand by Israel.

In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat There I will enter into judgment against them concerning my inheritance, my people Israel, for they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land. Joel 3:1-2 NIV

I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you. Genesis 12:3 NIV

Russia will "certainly" support the Palestinian Authority's bid to be recognized as a state by the United Nations, deputy foreign minister Mikhail Bogfanov has said. Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas "has told us that the Palestinians intend to go to the (UN) Security Council," seeking recognition of the state of Palestine, Mr Bogdanov told Russian journalists in New York. "According to what we understand, that will take place on September 23," the deputy minister added in comments reported by the Interfax news agency. Asked whether Russia will support the Palestinian bid, Mr Bogdanov replied "Of course, certainly."

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez is backing the push for Palestinian statehood in a letter released Tuesday, saying the Palestinian people have a right to be recognized as a nation.  Chavez said in the letter to UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and the UN General Assembly that Venezuela supports "Palestine's right to become a free, sovereign and independent state." "This represents an act of historic justice toward a people who carry with them, from time immemorial, all the pain and suffering of the world," Chavez wrote in the letter, dated September 17

China's Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday it understood and supported Palestinian aspirations to seek full U.N. membership, but stopped short of saying how it would vote on the matter. China "believes that establishing a state is a legal right the Palestinian people cannot be denied and is the basis and precondition for peaceful coexistence between Palestine and Israel," ministry spokesman Hong Lei said. "As for the matter of the Palestinians independently establishing a state and applying to the United Nations, we express understanding, respect and support," he told a regular news briefing.

Norway will recognize a Palestinian state, Foreign Minister Jonas Gahr Store said Sunday as Palestinians prepared to seek statehood recognition from the United Nations. "Only negotiations can solve matters between Israel and the Palestinians, and should commence immediately," Store wrote in an entry on his Facebook page. "But the Palestinians have a right to go to the UN. Norway will support this and is prepared to recognize a Palestinian state," he added.

Prime Minister Stephen Harper has made his government's strongest statements yet against a drive to get the United Nations to recognize a Palestinian state next week. "No unilateral actions like this are helpful in terms of establishing a long-run peace in the Middle East," Harper said during a stop in Saskatoon, Sask. "Canada views the action as very regrettable and we will be opposing it at the United Nations."

U.S. President Barack Obama, trying to avert a clash over Palestinian statehood, told the United Nations on Wednesday there was no substitute for Israeli-Palestinian negotiations or any short cut to peace.  With U.S. credibility and influence in the Middle East at stake, Obama wants to dissuade the Palestinians from asking the UN Security Council for statehood in the teeth of Israeli anger and a U.S. threat to use its veto if it came to a vote.
