Prophecy Sign: Signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars.
Recent articles suggest the Sun is behaving in some unusual ways, including this article which reports that a recent eruption made it look as though the Sun was "blowing itself to bits". It was to say the least, something that had not been seen before.
There is a time coming very soon when the Sun's power will be used as a judgment on this unrepentant planet during the Great Tribulation. The Suns intensity will be ramped up to the point that people will be scorched and burned. We are not talking of a bad sun-burn here, but something far more horrible, as the Apostle John wrote of:
The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was given power to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. Revelation 16:8-9 NIV

On June 7, 2011, Earth-orbiting satellites detected a flash of X-rays coming from the western edge of the solar disk. Registering only "M" (for medium) on the Richter scale of solar flares, the blast at first appeared to be a run-of-the-mill eruption--that is, until researchers looked at the movies. "We'd never seen anything like it," says Alex Young, a solar physicist at the Goddard Space Flight Center. "Half of the sun appeared to be blowing itself to bits."
