Prophecy Sign: The erosion of Christian principles and teaching for our children, and in its place, good for evil and evil for good.
This world is becoming ever more perverse. Two court challenges are in the news today. One on either side of the U.S./Canada border. In America a court will decide whether school officials can continue to take away the first amendment rights of school children and restrict their speech when it comes to the mentioning of God or Jesus on school property.
Meanwhile in the most socialistic part of North America, that being the province of Quebec, students are required to be fed a plethora of religious mumbo-jumbo on the pretext of sensitizing students to all religions, including Satanic religions such as Wicca. This course must be taken by all students with parents not allowed to pull their students from such teaching. Some parents are now taking the Quebec Education Department to the Supreme Court of Canada in order to have their rights as guardians of their children in spiritual development matters re-established. They are hoping the court will side with the parents as they contend these types of government mandated courses violate freedom of religion provisions in the Canadian charter of rights, and parental freedoms in teaching their children.
We asked that you pray earnestly for these two court cases that wisdom will prevail and the Superior courts will do what is right. That the name of Jesus will be allowed to be spoken by students in schools, and that parents will retain the right to determine the religion that will be taught to their children.
Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter. Isaiah 5:20 NIV
From the articles:
A hearing is scheduled Monday before the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans that could determine if students in elementary schools have the protections of the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. The case arose in the Plano Independent School District in Texas where Thomas Elementary School Principal Lynn Swanson and Rasor Elementary School Principal Jackie Bomchill were sued for restricting student speech when it referenced "God" or "Jesus."
The dispute went to district court then to a three-judge panel of the 5th Circuit where school officials' efforts to have the complaint rejected because of their "immunity" failed. Now the appeals court has agreed to an en banc hearing in which 17 judges will listen to arguments and decide the dispute.

Since September of 2008 all Quebec students, from primary school entry to high school graduation, in public and private schools, have been obliged to take a course called, in English, Ethics and Religious Culture (ERC). And teachers, regardless of their religious or a-religious beliefs, must teach it. According to its inventors, the ERC curricula are designed to sensitize students to the tenets of Quebec ’s rich array of religious beliefs – the major religions, plus native myths and even Wiccan beliefs – in order to “facilitate the spiritual development of students so as to promote self-fulfillment.”
To parents who take their religion seriously, it is not the state’s job to facilitate anything of the kind; it is their job. And so, representing the cadre of some 2,000 Quebec parents who wish to have their children exempted from the ERC program, which does not allow for exemptions (not even for the home-schooled), a Drummondville couple, who cannot be named, have taken their case to the Supreme Court, maintaining that the province’s refusal to exempt their two children violates their freedom as parents and their religious beliefs.
