Prophecy Sign: Signs in the Sun, Moon and Stars
The bible is both insightful and somewhat cryptic at times with regards to future prophecy. For instance, the bible speaks volumes about coming wars that will occur as part of the last days. That's pretty clear. What's not so clear are the indications that these wars may be fought on horseback. Is that an actual interpretation or simply a language and illusions that the writers of old were familiar with? They had no concept of tanks, fighter jets, missiles and the other modern implements of war. For them to describe a vision of a future war featuring those types of armaments would be near impossible. Instead, they described the wars in the manner in which they and their readers of that time would be familiar with.
Or, is it possible that the Gog/Magog war, and the War of Armageddon, which speak of shields, bucklers and horseman and horses, is the way war will be fought at the time of the end? Perhaps after the world is knocked for a loop with the destruction of much of our sophisticate infrastructure due to a severe solar event such as scientists are worried about for the future, there will be no other means. It remains to be seen, and it also remains to be seen just what the great signs in the cosmos will be that Jesus spoke of.

A senior official at the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says solar storms pose a growing threat to critical infrastructure such as satellite communications, navigation systems and electrical transmission equipment. NOAA Assistant Secretary Kathryn Sullivan says the intensity of solar storms is expected to peak in 2013 and countries should prepare for "potentially devastating effects."
