Fire and rain: Fed scientists point to wild April

Prophecy Sign:  Aberrant weather patterns and events occuring in divergent parts of the world.

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Luke 21:25 NIV

From the articles:
April was a historic month for wild weather in the United States, and it wasn't just the killer tornado outbreak that set records, according to scientists with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. April included an odd mix of downpours, droughts and wildfires. Six states — Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky, Pennsylvania, and West Virginia — set records for the wettest April since 1895. Kentucky, for example, got nearly a foot of rain, which was more than three times its normal for the month, NOAA reported.

While states along the Mississippi River are dealing with too much water, others don't have enough. Some parts of Texas have not seen significant rain since last August.
Farms fields and cattle ponds are drying up and the drought has fueled widespread wildfires that are engulfing thousands of square miles across the Lone Star State.

Flood watches and warnings were in effect Tuesday morning as the rising Mississippi River rushes downstream toward Louisiana and the Gulf of Mexico. Meanwhile in Memphis, Tenn., the extensive levee system is holding, keeping flood waters away from most neighborhoods in the heart of the city. But in other areas the damage is already done. The Mississippi is leaving its mark on Memphis, spilling two and a half miles out of its banks.
