Japan earthquake accelerated Earth's rotation, study finds

We blogged about this shortly after the Japanese earthquake, but since we have this article today, it bears repeating.  Bible prophecy seems to indicate that near to the end of the Great Tribulation, the days and nights are actually shortened by 1/3.  How would that happen?  We previously noted that the last three big earthquakes, (Sumatra in 2004, Chile in 2010 and Japan, 2011), all affected the rotation of the earth, and have shortened the days, (if only by microseconds).

Bible prophecy tells us that the earthquakes we are seeing now are nothing in comparison to what's coming.  In fact the bible informs us that an earthquake of such magnitude will occur during the Tribulation that the islands will be moved from their place and the mountains as well.  Such a 2012 end of the world type event would most certainly mess with the rotational spin of the earth.  Perhaps even shortening the days by 1/3?  (Or might it just be that God says you’re all on a power saving program now and you’re lighting requirements have just been cut by a third?  He can do that you know.)

The fourth angel sounded his trumpet, and a third of the sun was struck, a third of the moon, and a third of the stars, so that a third of them turned dark. A third of the day was without light, and also a third of the night. Revelation 8:12 NIV

From the news article:
The massive earthquake that struck northeast Japan Friday (March 11) has shortened the length Earth's day by a fraction and shifted how the planet's mass is distributed. A new analysis of the 8.9-magnitude earthquake in Japan has found that the intense temblor has accelerated Earth's spin, shortening the length of the 24-hour day by 1.8 microseconds, according to geophysicist Richard Gross at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, Calif. Gross refined his estimates of the Japan quake's impact – which previously suggested a 1.6-microsecond shortening of the day – based on new data on how much the fault that triggered the earthquake slipped to redistribute the planet's mass. A microsecond is a millionth of a second.
