Egypt's new FM wants ties with Iran

Two of the most prominent and powerful middle-east nations are looking to formalize ties.  That being Egypt and Iran. Iran already holds much sway and influence over Syria and Lebanon, and has its fingers in BahrainEgypt being the largest Muslim Arab nation in the mid-east, will have much influence with its neighboring Arab states once the Egyptians stabilize their new government after their November elections.

These two countries are both in future bible prophecy, with each being a part of various alliances of nations that come against Israel at the time of the end.  Egypt, (the Hagarites) will be part of the Psalm 83 alliance of nations, and Iran, (Persia), will be a major player in the Ezekiel Gog/Magog alliance, (Ezekiel 38/39).

As unrest spreads across the middle-east, the door becomes wide open for more radical Islamic movements to take over.  These movements have much in common and some are in fact direct offshoots of the Egyptian Muslim Brotherhood, (Hamas for instance).  This group and other like it call for the establishment of Islamic Shariah law, and also call for the destruction of Israel.  We shouldn't be surprised to see Iran and the new leader in Egypt getting all cozy and friendly.

From the news articles:
Egypt's new foreign minister, Nabil al-Arabi, said Tuesday that his country wants to promote ties with Tehran and that Cairo no longer sees Iran as its enemy.  "Iran is a state in the region, and we have had long-term historical ties with it over the different periods," al-Arabi told a press conference. "We will turn over a new leaf with all states, including Iran."

Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi said on Wednesday that the Islamic Republic of Iran welcomes resumption of diplomatic ties with Egypt as recently proposed by his Egyptian counterpart.  'There have been many ups and downs in the two countries' relations and we hope that under the new conditions we will witness further expansion of relations between the two great nations,' Salehi said.
