Floods fury returns to Sri Lanka

More floods affecting millions in Sri Lanka, and more events in the land down under....this time bush fires that have destroyed many buildings near the City of Perth in Western Australia.
The last 12 months have certainly been one for the record books when it comes to epic weather events.

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea.  Luke NIV

From the articles:
People in Sri Lanka are going hungry as a fresh wave of floods has hit the east, centre and north of the island. Some 320,000 people have been forced to take refuge in makeshift camps in schools, temples and mosques. The floods have affected 1.25 million people. Officials say 11 people have been killed and three more are missing. Last month, more than 300,000 were displaced by the floods which killed at least 40 people, ruined crops and killed livestock. In what is normally known as Sri Lanka's dry zone, people are once more getting around by boat.

Bushfires on the outskirts of Perth in Western Australia have destroyed more than 60 homes, officials say. One blaze has now largely been brought under control, but fire-fighters are still battling the fires to the east and north of the city. High flames are being whipped up by winds of up to 70km/h (44mph). Hundreds of people have left their homes. The blazes come exactly two years after 173 people died in bushfires that swept through the southern state of Victoria.
