Analysis: Saudi Arabia, jolted by Egypt, now alarmed by Bahrain

Are we now seeing the beginning of a restructuring of the Arab/Muslim world?  There are many observers, (Joel Rosenberg and Glenn Beck to name a couple), that are greatly concerned that what is now happening in the middle-east will eventually usher in an Islamic Caliphate.

It's interesting to note that in Daniel chapter 11 we are told that a great King known as the King of the South will align with the King of the North in a great battle against a global world leader, (Antichrist). This battle will occur in a region referred to as the "beautiful land", which of course is Israel.  Some prophecy experts have equated these events recorded in Daniel 11 to that of the Ezekiel Gog/Magog war.  In chapters 38 and 39 of Ezekiel, we are told that a great leader from the North, (Gog of Magog), will align with several nations including many from the south, (Lybia, Sudan, Ethiopia), in a battle that will take place in Israel.  There does seem to be a good deal of commonality between these two portions of scripture.

It is also interesting to know that in Isaiah 19, we are told that the nation of Egypt will undergo a revolution at the end of days, with a fierce King taking power and ruling over Egypt, (and presumably over the rest of the Muslim/Arab world).

Is it possible that we are now seeing the fulfillment of these prophecies and that the geo-political landscape in the Muslim/Arab world is being pulled together into this future Kingdom, (Caliphate), to be ruled by a future fierce King?

At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. He will also invade the Beautiful Land. Many countries will fall, but Edom, Moab and the leaders of Ammon will be delivered from his hand. Daniel 11:40-41 NIV

“I will stir up Egyptian against Egyptian— brother will fight against brother, neighbour against neighbour, city against city, kingdom against kingdom. Isaiah 19:2 NIV

I will hand the Egyptians over to the power of a cruel master, and a fierce king will rule over them, declares the Lord, the LORD Almighty. Isaiah 19:4 NIV

From the articles:

Saudi Arabia, shaken by the loss of a key ally in Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak, must now worry that protests in neighboring ally Bahrain may embolden its own Shi'ite population to push for reform. Thousands of overwhelmingly Shi'ite protesters, inspired by uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia, took to Bahrain's streets this week demanding more say in the Gulf Arab kingdom where a Sunni Muslim family rules over a majority Shi'ite population.
Risks of instability in Saudi Arabia, where Shi'ites make up about 15 percent of the population, would soar if the opposition in Bahrain toppled the ruling al-Khalifa family, analysts said.

Clashes broke out in several towns in Libya on Thursday after the opposition called for a day of protests, reports and a witness said, while supporters of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi rallied in the capital. Gaddafi opponents communicating anonymously online or working in exile had urged people to protest on Thursday to try to emulate popular uprisings which unseated long-serving rulers in neighboring Tunisia and Egypt.

Unrest spread across the Middle East and North Africa on Thursday as Bahrain launched a swift military crackdown on anti-government protesters and clashes were reported in Libya and Yemen. Troops in armored vehicles took control of the Bahraini capital after police firing buckshot and teargas drove out protesters hoping to emulate demonstrators who toppled veteran leaders in Egypt and Tunisia.
