Radiation Detector, Gamma Spectroscope and Dosimeter - Polimaster 1703MO-1B (Review)

Antiproton reports that this specific unit that does both the dosimetry, direct radiation detection and the spectroscopy, all for around $2,700 as of 2014...

Pretty awesome for something that looks like a beeper. The benefits of a meter like this is that it is a unit you can carry around 24 hours a day and keep it on all of the time. It measures your total radiation exposure, via the dosimeter function. One battery lasts 1,000 hours, which is impressive all by itself. It also has an alarm hooked to a Geiger counter that will go off if you are around a dangerous source of radiation. 

Once the unit does detect a dangerous source of radiation, you can also hook up a computer to it via bluetooth and have it go into spectroscopic mode to identify the specific source of the radiation, with a few limitations, because this is a tiny unit with no lead shielding around it. A Geiger counter cannot do that. 

But if you have or can save up the money to buy something that packs a huge amount of technology into a tiny package, this is the unit to buy.
