'Fountains' of methane 1,000m across erupt from Arctic ice

Prophecy Sign:  The Earth will groan, and the animals will perish

What on earth is happening to this planet of ours? From giant fountains of erupting methane in the Artic Ocean, to birds falling out of the sky, to earthquake swarms occurring in place that don't normally experience earthquakes. Do you think God might be trying to tell us something?

There is no faithfulness, no love, no acknowledgment of God in the land. There is only cursing, lying and murder, stealing and adultery; they break all bounds, and bloodshed follows bloodshed. Because of this the land dries up, and all who live in it waste away; the beasts of the field, the birds in the sky and the fish in the sea are swept away. Hosea 4:1-3 NIV
From the articles:
The Russian research vessel Academician Lavrentiev conducted a survey of 10,000 square miles of sea off the coast of eastern Siberia. They made a terrifying discovery - huge plumes of methane bubbles rising to the surface from the seabed. 'We found more than 100 fountains, some more than a kilometre across,' said Dr Igor Semiletov, 'These are methane fields on a scale not seen before. The emissions went directly into the atmosphere.'

Thousands of migratory birds were killed or injured after apparently mistaking a Wal-Mart parking lot, football fields and other snow-covered areas of southern Utah for bodies of water and plummeting to the ground in what one state wildlife expert called the worst mass bird crash she'd ever seen. Crews went to work cleaning up the dead birds and rescuing the injured survivors after the creatures crash-landed in the St. George area Monday night. By midday Wednesday, volunteers had helped rescue more than 3,000 birds, releasing them into a nearby pond. There's no count on how many died, although officials estimate it's upwards of 1,500.

The central coast of Maine was hit by two small earthquakes at nearly the same moment Monday night. The earthquakes, which measured 2.3 and 1.9 on the Richter scale, occurred about a second apart, at 11:41 p.m. The epicenters were about 4 miles apart in an area of Hancock County near Ellsworth and Searsport, according to a preliminary earthquake report released by the United States Geological Survey. On Sunday afternoon and night, quakes measuring 1.0 and 1.4 on the Richter scale, respectively, were recorded in central Maine about 80 miles away. “This area of Maine does get a lot of earthquakes,” said Justin Starr, a research assistant at the Weston Observatory, the Boston College geophysical observatory. He said he didn’t know why there has been a flurry of activity in the area.
