Prophecy Sign: Increasing numbers of Earthquakes and active Volcanoes in diverse places

There is a theory called Crustal Displacement which states that the entire crust of the Earth can shift in one piece like the lose skin on an orange. So in one fell swoop all the continents, mountains and islands of the world can be moved out of their places, perhaps disappearing forever. This is what many people that study the cataclysmic events of the great flood of Noah’s time suspect; That prior to the flood, the world was one big continent, but was completely reshaped when God allowed the lands to break apart with the up swellings from the deep, (Genesis 7:11). When reading about the horrific events in the book of Revelation, we find a pair of interesting passages that seem to describe such an event as this particular theory of continental shifting.

The sky receded like a scroll, rolling up, and every mountain and island was removed from its place. Revelation 6:14 NIV
Every island fled away and the mountains could not be found. Revelation 16:20NIV

Check out the articles we have linked to in this blog entry. It will make you wonder if there maybe something to this crustal displacement theory and perhaps this is how the prophecies of Revelation will be fulfilled. Pretty scary thought.
From the articles:
A giant underground reservoir of molten rock has been discovered under the deserts of Ethiopia by British geologists, The (London) Sunday Times reported. They targeted the Afar region in the Horn of Africa after a recent surge in volcanic activity and earthquakes plus the appearance of giant cracks in the rocky surface. Tectonic plates in the area are pulling apart and gradually creating a new ocean. Now, the scientists have mapped the colossal underground lake of magma that lies up to 20 miles (32km) below the earth's surface. "We estimate that there is 3,000 cubic kilometers of molten rock under Afar -- enough to cover all of London ... with around a kilometer of rock," said Kathy Whaler, professor of geophysics at Edinburgh University. The reservoir is under such pressure that it has forced tongues of molten rock up towards the surface, producing eruptions and earthquakes.
