Israel Rejects UNESCO Vote on P.A. Membership

Prophecy Sign:  The seven year covenant between Israel and the many

By voting for membership of the Palestinians as a member of UNESCO, the 107 UN nations that supported the initiative have stepped up the campaign of pressure on Israel to capitulate to Palestinian demands. Those demands being; get out of the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  Now it appears that Israel is ready to put forward a comprehensive border proposal to the Quartet, (Russia, America, the UN and the EU), in order to kick-start peace negotiations. It appears the pressure campaign is wearing on Israel.

All this may well lead to the seven year peace treaty, (or covenant as the bible refers to it), which will be brokered by the future Antichrist.  We however, still believe that a middle-east war will ensue first, leading to this agreement which will then allow for the rebuilding of the Jewish Temple.  At present, the Palestinians, (and for that matter the entire Muslim world), would never allow the construction of a temple anywhere near its former site.  That being right next to the Dome of the Rock.

From the articles:
The UN cultural organisation has voted strongly in favour of membership for the Palestinians - a move opposed by Israel and the United States. Of 173 countries voting, 107 were in favour, 14 opposed and 52 abstained. In response, Washington announced it is cutting funding to Unesco. Its membership dues provide around a fifth of the organisation's budget. The UN Security Council will vote next month on whether to grant the Palestinians full UN membership. Membership of Unesco - perhaps best known for its World Heritage Sites - may seem a strange step towards statehood, says the BBC's Jon Donnison, in Ramallah, but Palestinian leaders see it as part of a broader push to get international recognition and put pressure on Israel.

Israel
on Monday rejected the vote by UNESCO granting full member status to "Palestine." "Israel rejects the decision of the General Assembly of UNESCO of the 31st [of] October accepting Palestine as a member state of the organization," the Foreign Ministry said in a statement posted on its website. "This is a unilateral Palestinian maneuver that will bring no change on the ground but further removes the possibility of a peace agreement," Foreign Ministry officials added. The UNESCO vote is the latest win for the Palestinians in their bid to gain acceptance to the United Nations as a country, thereby avoiding peace talks with Israel.

In a departure from previous policy, the (Israeli) government has agreed to put forward a comprehensive proposal on borders within three months, according to a Quartet communiqué issued on Thursday. The statement, put out following separate meetings the Quartet envoys and Quartet representative Tony Blair held in Jerusalem with Israeli and Palestinian officials on Wednesday, said the parties agreed with the Quartet to “come forward with comprehensive proposals on territory and security within three months.
Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has been reluctant to present a detailed map of where he envisions a future Palestinian state, wary of revealing a key negotiating card before knowing what he can expect in return from the Palestinians on issues such as refugees, Jerusalem and recognition of a Jewish state.
