Arab Spring may endanger Mideast peace - Blair

Prophecy Sign: The emergence of a southern alliance of nations that will engage the Antichrist in battle

One thing for sure, bible prophecy is filled with information about alliances that will engage each other in future wars and battles. There is the Psalm 83 Arab alliance of nations and people groups that presently border Israelwhich will come against Israelin war. There is the Gog/Magog alliance, (Ezekiel 38), of mostly Muslim nations, along with Russia, which will attempt to destroy Israel.

Then there are the Kings of the East with a 200 million man army that crosses the Euphrates Riverlooking to take on the armies of the Antichrist at the end of the Tribulation period. And finally we have two groups of alliances mentioned in the book of Daniel which are referred to as the King of the North and the King of the South, (Daniel 11:40), which also battle with the Armies of the Antichrist.

Nobody knows for sure just how all these alliances will come together, and just how the many battles will play out. However, it is interesting to watch how all the events in the Middle East are making the creation of these alliances a very real possibility in the months to come. Case in point is the Arab/Muslim states in North Africa. The Arab spring which has seen the downfall of some long reigning dictators has opened the door for radical Islamic movements to takeover the likes of Egypt, Libya and Tunisia. This, along with already radical Islamic movements in Sudan, Ethiopia and Nigeria, one could easily see the creation of an Islamic alliance in North Africa, (The King of the South?), which would have an intense hatred of Israel, and likely the Western world as well.

At the time of the end the king of the South will engage him in battle, and the king of the North will storm out against him with chariots and cavalry and a great fleet of ships. He will invade many countries and sweep through them like a flood. Daniel 11:40NIV

From the Articles:
Arab pro-democracy uprisings spell more regional instability that could complicate peace efforts between Israel and the Palestinians but also make it necessary to get the process back on track, envoy Tony Blair said on Sunday. Blair will sit down separately with Israeli and Palestinian officials this week in Jerusalem to try to revive a peace process that broke down more than a year ago because of a dispute over Jewish settlement expansion. "It is a great thing that people are wanting democracy, but in the short term there is reduced stability in the region so that can pose problems for Israel and the peace process," said Blair.

Libya's interim leader outlined more radical plans to introduce Islamic law than expected as he declared the official liberation of the country. Mustafa Abdul-Jalil, the chairman of the National Transitional Council and de fact president, had already declared that Libyan laws in future would have Sharia, the Islamic code, as its "basic source". But that formulation can be interpreted in many ways - it was also the basis of Egypt's largely secular constitution under President Hosni Mubarak, and remains so after his fall.

Tunisian authorities counted votes Monday in carefully watched elections, with early signs that a once-banned Islamist party is leading in many constituencies in the country that unleashed uprisings across the Arab world. Tunisia was known for decades for its repressive leadership but also for its progressive legislation on women and families, which secular-leaning Tunisians fear the moderate Islamist party Ennahda would roll back if it takes a commanding number of seats in the new assembly being created by Sunday’s elections.
