Record heat, drought, and flooding sweeps US; food supply to take a hit

Prophecy Sign: During the Tribulation, the intensity of the Sun will scorch people, (and likely everything else as well)

This has been another wild year for weather extremes, coming off another wild year of extremes in 2010. The unprecedented heat wave that is scorching most of the United States and the Eastern parts of Canada brings to mind a prophecy in the book of Revelation that foretells of a coming time when God will allow the intensity of the Sun to play havoc with the peoples that are alive during the latter part of the Tribulation period. People will be scorched, (more than a bad sunburn), and likely what animals and crops remain at that time will be greatly affected as well.

(Incidentally, if you happen to live in some of those overheated areas of North America, why not pack your bags and head to Canada's westernmost province of British Columbia where we live. We've been having one of the most drearily cool, cloudy and wet summers we can remember. But at least it's not 110 F).

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. Revelation 16:8 NIV

From the articles:
The year 2011 is shaping up to be one of the most treacherous years in recent history; at least as far as the nation's weather patterns are concerned. While much of the Midwestern US continues to get drenched by record rainfall and torrential flooding, the Southern US is experiencing tremendous heat and drought conditions that, combined with flood conditions to the north, will have devastating effects on the nation's food supply.

A stifling heat wave in the nation's midsection intensified on Monday, closing government buildings that lacked air-conditioning and prompting warnings to residents to keep as cool as possible. The National Weather Service put 18 states stretching from North Dakota to Texas and East to Ohio under a heat warning, watch or advisory. It said as many 13 deaths in the past week in the Midwest could be blamed on the effects of the heat. When humidity was factored in, the heat index made it feel as hot as 110 degrees in a broad swath of the nation. "This is unusual," said Pat Slattery, spokesman for the Weather Service. "There's no sugar-coating anything here."
