Prophecy Sign: The establishment of a global religious system which will work alongside the global political/financial system of the Antichrist during the Tribulation.
There are many ideas as to just what the false religious system will be which is warned of in the book of Revelation. The most accepted view is that the Roman Church, (Catholicism), will continue with its ecumenical movement drawing in all the other branches of Christendom under her wing. As the true bible believing churches become ever more watered down in their teachings and swing towards the feel-good philosophies of the emergent church movement, the potential for unity with the Roman church becomes every greater.
Then there are those that believe the false religious system will be the ever growing religion of Islam. Not as wild an idea as you might think given the exponential growth of Islam in Europe and the seeming reverence the western main stream media and left wing elites and intelligentsia shower upon the so called "religion of peace".
Or perhaps the false religious system will be a melding of all the worlds faiths into some sort of interfaith movement, a new religion if you will. We simply don't know what it will be, but we do know that this religious system will work alongside the Antichrist during the Tribulation period.
The woman, (the false religious system), was dressed in purple and scarlet, and was glittering with gold, precious stones and pearls. She held a golden cup in her hand, filled with abominable things and the filth of her adulteries. The name written on her forehead was a mystery: BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF PROSTITUTES, AND OF THE ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH.
