Young Evangelicals Find Faith in Emerging Church Movement

Prophecy Sign:  A departure from Biblical Christianity and a turning towards whatever pleases the ears.  This to become more and more acute as we close in on Christ’s return.

The Christian Church is turning away from the sound teaching of Biblical Christianity and is seeking a more political correct and tolerant Emergent Christianity.  Which is so watered down, it ceases to become Christianity altogether, but instead another gospel.  Just read the red highlighted underlined portions of the article captions we have included in this blog entry. People looking for an "open church", where "no one is told what to believe".  Sounds more like a social club, rather than the Church of the Living God.

For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3 NIV

But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! Galatians 1:8 NIV

From the news articles:
Only a generation ago, Evangelical Protestants were flocking to so-called megachurches with congregations that numbered in the thousands. The worshippers were fundamentalists, including Evangelicals, who view the Christian Bible as the literal truth. The churches were often led by a charismatic pastor who gave fiery sermons against abortion or homosexuality. Now, a new generation of Evangelical and other Christians is seeking a more personal experience with a different political tone. They are meeting in more intimate settings, like the corner cafe, and no one is told what to believe.

The Rev. Steve Lawler should have just given up chocolate or television for Lent. Instead, Lawler, the part-time rector of St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, decided to adopt the rituals of Islam for 40 days to gain a deeper understanding of the faith. Two days after it began, he faced being defrocked if he continued in those endeavors.
Lawler, who has been at St. Stephen's for eight years, was born and raised in the Roman Catholic Church but left during his early 20s because he didn't care for its conservative viewpoints. "The Episcopal church is a fairly open church," he said. "If I was the pastor at a very conservative church, I could come in one day and have the locks changed (for doing the Islamic rituals)."
