Prophecy Sign:  Growing deception and erroneous teachings in the Church during the last days

The Pope decries the fact that Western nations are rejecting the Christianity of their heritage. At the same time we read that more and more born-again Christians are accepting the teaching of universalism.  The teaching that a persons religion matters not in their acceptance by God and admission into the heavenly realms.  Then we also read that many Christian Universities and Colleges are seeing more and more Gays and Lesbians coming out of the so called closets in these institutions, demanding the right to proclaim who they are.

Thanks to such influential Evangelicals as Brian McLaren, Rob Bell, Joel Osteen, and others, true biblical Christianity is becoming every more watered down due to not wanting to offend anyone.  The words of Paul to Timothy were never more relevant than they are now:

For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. 2 Timothy 4:3 NIV

From the articles:
One in four born-again Christians hold universalist thoughts when it comes to salvation, according to a new Barna analysis of trend data. Twenty-five percent of born-again Christians said all people are eventually saved or accepted by God. A similar proportion, 26 percent, said a person’s religion does not matter because all faiths teach the same lessons. And an even higher proportion, 40 percent, of born-again Christians said they believe Christians and Muslims worship the same God.

Battles for acceptance by gay and lesbian students have erupted in the places that expect it the least: the scores of Bible colleges and evangelical Christian universities that, in their founding beliefs, see homosexuality as a sin. Decades after the gay rights movement swept the country’s secular schools, more gays and lesbians at Christian colleges are starting to come out of the closet, demanding a right to proclaim their identities and form campus clubs, and rejecting suggestions to seek help in suppressing homosexual desires.

Pope Benedict lamented the widespread abandonment of faith in the West on Holy Thursday before he washed and dried the feet of 12 men to mark Christ's gesture of humility to his apostles on the night before he died. The German-born pontiff said it sometimes seemed as if people in Western countries had grown bored of their own history and culture and the heartlands of Christianity were rejecting religion.
